Heart walk To the Editor: I want to thank everyone who made the 1995 Southport-Oak Island American Heart Walk a success. A special thanks to our honorary walk chairman, editor Ed Harper, for his participation and support. The local sponsors includes Wilson’s Supermarkets, Subway, First Citizen Bank, United Carolina Bank and Becon Construction. Teams that participated were CP&L, United Carolina Bank, First Citizens Bank and South Brunswick High School Anchor Club. I would also like to thank the individuals who participated and all those that gave donations. Mary L. Russ Walk chairman Merry Christmas To the Editor: I want to say a big “thank you” to Mr. Bill Blake, who stopped last Friday and picked up my billfold and notebook from the middle of the road. While loading, I had put them on the roof of my car and forgotten they were there. Driving into Southport they slid off into the road. How lucky I was that Bill found them. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Pat Bruning Long Beach Weekly ‘visit' To the Editor: Please renew my subscription for another year. I enjoy my weekly “visit” to the Oak Island area — it helps to hold me until our summer visit. Because we own a lot and plan to retire to your area, we have a keen interest in all the issues, and your paper’s coverage is excellent. Frequently commemorative T shirts are offered for sale. Is there any way those of us who live a distance away could purchase one (or more) by mail? Perhaps this service could be considered by the community groups. Carol Erlingheusen Beacon Falls, CT.
