Railroad from Hallison up Deep River towards Greensboro will begin in a few days. The company is advertising to let contraots for the grading. The extension of this road up Deep River will open a fine section of country; will develop and stimu late mining, manufacturing and farming, and will mean a great deal to this section. The first station out from Halli son will be near High Falls, and will be named ''Tillman". Rev. G. J. Dowell and family have moved from Carthage to Williamston, where he becomes pastor of the Baptist church. Carthage is soon to have another large brick building. It will be on the corner of Main street and court house square. The building will be four stories high; will be 80x101 feet. The ground floor will be occupied by The Bank of Carthage, Chas. Cole & Co's. drug store, and two other store rooms. W. H. Dennis, known as Harris DeDnis, who moved from Randleman to Proximity last yeir, was arrested last week at Greensboro charged with stealing a watch from J. L. Lassiter. After a hearing Dennis was released. He formerly lived at Troy, and hter at Salisbury and Lexington, before going to Randle man. Dennis has been in the courts two or three times but is not con sidered a bad man, his failing being his inordinate desire for drink. Both are evils, but the moneyless man is far better off than the friend less man.
