FRANKLINVILLE GLEANINGS. Junior Lodge Reorganized at Liberty Personals. Mrs. Lou Carter visited relatives in Greensboro a few days last week. Ben Mar ley and wife, of near Moffitts, spent Sunday with B. F. Scott and family. In the absence of the Presiding Elder Rev. S. B. Turrentine, Rev. C. A. Wood held quarterly confer ence of the M. E. church at this place Monday morning. Daniel B. "Julian, aged 83 years, spent Sunday with C. H. Julian and family. Miss Minnie Nance has purchas ed a lot on Allred street of Mr. W. B. Cox and expects to erect a nice residence on it in the near future. Jesse Cox is visiting relatives in High I'oint this week. J. K. Lutterloh, traveling sales man, of the Lexington Grocery Company spent Saturday night and Sunday "in the city with relatives and friends. Geo. Martindale, of Gastoniu, is at home for a few days. The sohool at this place will close March 28th. Misses Anna Bulla and Georgia Carroll visited relatives in Asheboro Sunday. Mrs. C. J. Cox and Mrs. John Ward, of Asheboro, yisited at Mr. D. W. Millikans last week. Mrs. Allred visited her daughter, Mrs. John Trotter last week. Mr. F. I. Bulla will build a new dwelling here soon and will probab ly move here. Prof Surra tt Dead. W. C. Surratt,aged about 45 years died one day last week at bis home in New Hope Township, of pneumonia. Mr. Surratt was a son of the late George Snrratt. of Davidson County. Several years ago he married a daugh ter of Mr. Allen Morris who now liyesat Denton, Davidson County. His wife and several children sur vive him. Mr. Surratt was a good citizeD, highly respected for his many excellent qualities. He was one of Randolph's successful public school teachers. Trinity Items. Trinity High School is doing good work now; there are over one hun dred students in school. Gaither Elder, who has been at Burlington for several days, return ed Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Love, of Elon Col lege, are visiting relatives and friends in Trinity. Herbert Harris will return to his home in Minneapolis in a few days. The Xmw Liquor Law. The local Anti-Saloon League has succeeded in getting through the Legislature a law passed Satur day that gives power to the officers to make thorough search for whis key. Mr. Downing who for some years has been engaged in the lumber business at Cedar Creek in Cumbei land County will soon move his family back to Carthage and build a good home here and enlarge the business of the Carthage Hardware Co. But he will give personal at tention to the work in a black smith ing and machine shop which he will erect this spring on the lot in rear of the Carthage Hardware store. The ladies of Pinebluff gave a bean supper at Tne Highland hotel March the 9th for the purpose ot raising funds for a new road to be built beween Pinebluff and Aberdeen. Results: Twenty-two dollars and seventy cents. Mr. J. G. Parksjhas moved in to the Law Building next to the Bank and has opened a stock of foods. WILL HOWELL'S CRIME. Young Man Arrested on the Charge of Being the Cause of a Girl's Troubles. (Rocky Mount Recsrd.) Deputy Sheriff W. 0. Bulluck arrested Will Howell here Tuesday on a warrent charging him with seducing Lillian Weant at Spencer, N. C. He gave bond for bis ap pearance at a hearing today. The woman named attained much noto riety a week or so ago as the ac knowledged mother of an infant that was placed in a barn. A coro nor's inquest gave a verdict that the ehild was dead before placed in the the barn and saved the woman from being arrested for infauticide. Jim Sears, a young white mati who finished a term in the county convict camp Saturday, was turned over to an officer from Yadkin coun ty Monday who wanted him for disturbing religious worship and for assault. Sears has a bad repu tation in Yadkin and will probably be severely panished for his misdeeds there. Greensboro Patriot.
