Allen, destroyed a distil ery near Cagles Mills, Montgomery county, Monday. Miss Clara Moflitt, of Asheboro, received a degree of Bachelor of Literature and a diploma in vocal mnsic at Elon College last week. E. Moflitt is representing Ashe boro Lodge No. 45 Kn'ghts of Py the as at the meeting of the Grand Lodge at Elizabeth City this week. Mr. and Mrs. Lee A. Briles, of High Point, spent Monday in Ashe boro, returning home from a visit to f fiends and relatives in Montgomery county. Miss Meta Calder and Thos. Deaton were married at Ramseur Sutiday. The bride is a daughter of J. V. Calder and i highly es teemed. An infant of Mr. and Mrs. Pres ley Spoon, died at the home of its parents near Aeheboro Saturday and was buried at Brower's Chapel Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. The Trinity township Sunday School Convention will be held at Archdale, July 7th, 1907. An in teresting program is being arranged and will be published a little later. Prof. W. A. Rivins, who was last year a member of the faculty of Trinity High School, at Old Trinity, this county, has been elected prin cipal of one of the five schools for the white children at Durham. The Masons recently elected the following fo" the ensuing six months: Worshipful Master, J. M. Way; Senior Warden, Edgar Presnell; Junior Warden S. W. Cox; Treasurer, Dr. W. J. Moore; Secretary, W. B. Webster. Mrs. J. T. Underwood left Mon day morning for Greensboro in re sponse to a telegram announcing the death of her cousin, Mrs. J no. Donald, which occurred Sunday. The funeral was conducted Monday afternoon. Mr Jule F. Mendenhall. of Tr'n ity township, whose health has not been good tor near two years uoes not imm-ove. He had intended to go to Hot Springs, but his physician has not yet given his consent for him to go, as his conditiqn is such he does not now want him to make th3 trip. The new sch dule for the High Point and Asheboro branch of the Southern went into effect last Sun Jay. The train now leaves Asheboro at 6:50 in the morniug, arrving at High Point at 8:30. After supper llio party was conducted to the parlor and entertained with music and some old fashioned plays. On the day following they returned to Ashe boro and Mr. d. K Mollilt and wife left for a trip to Jamestown Exposition, where they will spend a few davs and then return to Oklahoma and Mr, i 15. Moflitt returned to Tampa Flu., where he holds a responsible position with one of Tampa's largest lumlier plants. Mrs. Tilatha Bulla, wife of the late B. B. Bulla, died Sunday after noon at her home on Academy street after a short illness. Mrs Bulla had been in declining health for several months, but her illness was uot critical until about three weeks ago, when she took a rapid decline. Mrs Bulla was 77 years old and was high :y esteemed by those who knew her. Her ' whole life was wrapped up in devotion to her chil dren and her home, where happiness was the chief aim. She will not only be missed at home, but the host of friends will deeply mourn her demise. The deceased is survived by four children, Miss Nannie Bulla, who lived with her aged mother; Lewis D. Bulla, also of Asheboro; Jno. D. Bulla, of Washington, D. C, aud Mrs Lura Brower, of Atlanta. Mrs Bulla's husband, who was at oua time clerk of the Superior Court of Randolph county, pre ceded her tu the grave many years HgO. i'l e funeral was conducted Mon day i-fternoou at 5 o'clock from the .M.' The wedding march was plajed by Miss Minnie Causey, of Liberty. The wedding was a quiet aff iir, only a few rela tives aud friends attending, lhe bride and groom were the recipients of a large number of handsome and useful prsents. The bride is an attractive and lovable young womat., and for sev eral years has made her home in Raleigh, holding a position in the store of Dobbin-Ferrall Company. She is a granddaughter of Mr and. Mrs West. Mr Womble is a mem ber of that firm and is one of Ral eigh's most successful and enterpris ing young business men. IN GUILFORD COURT. C. H. Craven, Administrator, Given a Verdict For Twenty-five Hundred Dollars. The case of C. B. Craven, admin istrator, against the North Carolina Railroad Company was given to the jury at Ureensboro Friday, and a verdict was rendered in an hour giving the plaintiff $3500 for the death of his son who was killed in September of the year 1905 by a shifting engine near Beck's Cross ing. At the same time with Mr Ciaven 8 son was killed Leslie der ringer whose case was tried at a previous term, and a verdict given for $8,000. In the Gerringer case, al though similar in circumstances to the Craven case, the defendent had no witnesses to testify, and an appeal haa beea taken. Cedar Falls Juniors F.lect Officers. The membership is growing and reports show the council in a thriving condition. Ilasc Hall at FI.Mit Hill. The game of ball between Flynt Hill and Back Creek teams Satur day afternoon on the Flynt Hill diamond resulted in a score of 18 to 20 in favor of the Back Creek boys, the feature of the game was a park hit by Robert Millikan, which landed the ball in the woods back of the diamond, the ball being lost for one hour. THE NEW FOUNTAIN. "Innovation", The Handsome Fountain of W. A. I' inter wood at Randleman. The new Soda Fountain installed by W. A. Uaderwood at Randleman, in his down-town store is a marvel of beauty and is one of the handsom est in the State. It is the "Innovation" made by the Liquid Corbonic Mfg. Co. of Chicago. The counter is fifteen feet long with an 18in. wide marble slab to cover. The base board is white marble, while the couuter proper is mahogany. The draft tube is solid Mexican onyx with six drafts. It is connect ed to a jewel corbonator which does away with the old fashioned steel fountains. The super-structure rests agaiust the wall and has a French plate mirror, 8ft. high by 12ft. long. The base is fitted with a laige refrigera tor which is porcelain lined, while on either side are cold storage for all kinds of fruits aud etc. The syrup jars are porcelain throughout with gutta percha pumps in each. The syrup is drawn and eorbon ated water drawn iu glasse3 without the operator turning his bak to the customer. The fountain is something entire ly new for Randolph county and attracts the attention of all visitors to Randleman. .1 ellVr-un Memorial The Randolph Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy held an interesting meeting in the Acad tiny Monday of last week. The pro gram was appiopriately arranged as a memorial to the late President Jell'eresou Davis, of the Confederacy. An interesting sketch of the life uf Mr Davis was read by Mrs. Wm. C. Mummer. Mrs. C. C McAlister read a k a , er on the trial of Mrs Davie, atiei- which Mrs. Stedmau read a poem, an orignal tribute to the dead Chieftou. Miss McAlister, who, with her father, attended the Confederate Re uuion at Richmond, made an iner esting report of the Veteran's meeting- Much lliiildinjr lioinir On. Reports from Pleasant Garden show that little villige rapidly devel oping. The new domitory is about completed. It will be furnished and ready for occupation by Septem ber 1st. Mr R. Riley has laid the foundatiion for a nice six room cottage on the principle thorough fare. He will press this to comple tion. Mr O. F. Ross has been awarded the contract for the remodling and completion of the old Riley home and will during summer push this through. In addition to these new homes Dr. Robt. Fentress and others have bought lots and will build in the near future. After many annoying waits the chair factory is now ready to start. NOTICE.
