THE NATION
Should Give Thanks For Bounteous Crops and Mult'
plied Blessingin This Year of Nineteen Hundred
aas Twelve.
The year nineteen hundred and twelve has been ono f the most
bounteous in the histcry of the United States- In all parts of the
Union the soil has responded bounteously to the touch of husbandry.
These blessings of bumper crops have not been confined o particular
States or sect Joe b but have showered themselves on the people ev
everjfchcrs over the vast territory of a country which Includes almost
every climate known to civilized man.
CafemitAes hove come to some sections. Storms and floods have oc
curred as they lwajs do, but in the main the year 1 nineteen hundred
and twelve las been one of the blessings of which the people of the
entire Nation owe and should tender thanks to Divine Providence.
Th material are not the only blessings for wh'ch mankind should
give thanks. S me other blessings not .material, but for which we
should be thankful, aro set forth in the following lines from the pen
' F1ren" L. M. Pratt: , EJIVM I' V I- ! ..fLi,,,
I tteik Thee God, first, for my own immortal soul,
And the Chrlst-tcugtt power to reach a heaven'y goal;
For health and strength to minister to my fami'y's need's.
And all the charitable thevghts toward others' creeds;
For my home, f r love, and work ths 1 rfnnn for me, "
nd the things that make my lift wort living, j- j j
I I thank Thee.
The little heads that lpy so restful on my breast
How empty my 'ife, had I not been so blest. ' .
The little eyes that lock confidently in mine.
And fill my hourt with joy almost divine -For
tiese, oh Cod, I give -Thee thanks; and pray i
That every mother heart mry beat in unison ;
