Miss Ruth and Bryan Parks, of Parks Cross Roads, spent 'Saturday evening and Sunday in town. Miss Annie Fox, of Asheboro, visit' ed relatives here Sunday. Mr. Ollie Jackson, of Denton, who has been spending: some time with his mother, Mrs. A. M. Swaney, returned home Saturday morning;. Mr. J. F. Brewer, one of our clever farmers, planted one peck of Irish po tatoes last spring and after using potatoes for the family all summer dug from his patch 21 bushels. Mrs. Eva Black was the guest of Mrs. Lou Buie Sunday. Miss Mary Belle Jennings, of Greensboro, is spending a few days at the home of Mr. T. M. Jennings. v Mr. W. R. Hughes, who owns a good farm a short distance southest of town has exchanged his place for a valua ble house and lot owned by Mr. Mon roe Craven. Mr. Hughes will move to town where he can take advantage of our good school and will very likely run a beef market. Mr. Craven will move to the farm and make his future home. Misses Esther Berry, Minnie Micha el and Messrs. Haywood Parks and Numa Beck, of Lexington, spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Brewer last week. Weatherly attended Sunday School convention at Level Cross Sunday. Mr. Hugh Parks, Jr., and family were guests of relatives at Sanford Sunday. , Mr. P. I. Booth, who has been work ing at Stony Point, Va., is at home for a short stay. Miss Anna and Mr. Walter Saun ders are spending some time at their old home in Montgomery county. ' Mr. J. H.' Marley and family, Mr. James Buie, Mr. W. D. Maner and family, 'and E. A. Routh and family made a trip to Jackson Springs Sun day. Mr. and 'Mrs. R. W. Jordan, Mrs. Jennie Brewer, and daughter, Miss Verta, left last Friday for an auto trip through Moore, Montgomery end .other counties. . The first stop will be at Biscoe and at Troy there will be a reunion of friends and relatives and a picnic dinner will be served at the home of Mr. Jordan's sister, Mrs. J. M. Deaton. At Mt. Gitead'they will visit at the home of Mr.:L. P. Byr'd, 'where-ice cream will be served. At Mr. U. B. Jordan's at Candor, will be a ' watermelon cutting. Jackson Springs "will not be slighted, and they expect to' take a peep at large dairy farms and peach orchards. They will visit Mr. C. II. Teague at Hoffman and will, spend some time at Hamlet. From there they go to Sanitorium to attend a picnic dinner, and will take the train at Sanford for home. Quite a successful meeting was clos ed at Pleasant Cross last Sunday night. There were 16 new members added to the church. The lawn party given by the Baraca class Saturday night was very much enjoyed by a large erowd. Two cakes were offered for prizes, which were won by Miss Pearl Martindill and Mr. Joe Buie. The proceeds amounted to $51.32. WORTHY! LLE AND RANDLEMAN ROUTE 2 NEWS Messrs. C. H. and W. J. Cook, of Burlington, are spending some time at Mr. W. T. Ingle's. Mr. Fred Henley, of South Carolina, is visitine his grandfather, Mr. P. H. Henley. Mr. C. B. Weatherly, . at Franklinville, Friday evening in honor of her cousin, Miss Mary Barnes, of Jonesboro, and Miss Lessie Cole, of Sanford. Rook, nation and other games were played, after which delicious refreshments were served. Miss Mary Barnes and Mr. J. T. Buie presided over the punch bowl. Several beautiful piano selections were rendered by Mrs. Weatherly. Treva, the six-year-old daughter, of Mr. and Mrs: James Hill, died last Friday morning and was buried at Flint Hill Saturday morning at eleven 'clock. Her death was sudden. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the neighborhood. RAMSEUR ROUTE 2 NEWS People in the community' are having lots of melons. Revival meeting began at Rehobeth church last Sunday, Rev. W. M. ' , MARTIN'S MILL NEWS Miss Bertie Hughes, of Worthville was a visitor at Mr. A. P. Martin's this week. . - Mr.;,G. W. McLeod is very ill at this writing. Miss Ruth Shuping and Mr. John Lucas were manaed at the home of the bride Sunday evening. Miss Shu ping is the daughter of Mr. R. N.. Shuping. Mr. Lucas is the son of Mr. Isaih Lucas. MISS STUART ENTERTAINS On Saturday evening; Miss Hester Stuart delightfully entertained a num ber of her friends at her home at Why Not, in honor of her house guest, Miss Dorothy Hubbard, of Farmer. At 8:30 the guests were met at the door by Miss Hester Stuart and ushered into the parlor which was beautifully dec orated for the occasion. They were then led into ,the living room where punch was served by Mesdames C. E. Stuart and. F. J. Cox." The prize in a name contest was won by Miss Aleene King and Mf Ernest Slack. The guest of honor 'was presented? with a dainty linen handkerchief. Delightful music was furnished by Misses Clauae Forrester"- and Dorothy Hubbard. Delicious ' refreshments were then served in- the dining room. There were about thirty young peo ple present to enjoy Miss Stuart'a hospitality. : ' MILLBORO NEWS The singing school at Shady Grove closed August 8. There was a large and attentive audience present The class rendered a program that speaks well for the conductors as well as the boys and girls of the community. This is the first school that Mr. A. M. Fentress has conducted for us. The Worthville male quartet was with us Saturday and Sunday and added great ly to the program. Mrs. A. M. Fentress, of Pleasant Garden, was a visitor here Saturday and Sunday. There was a large crowd at Beth any Sunday at the beginning of the protracted meeting there. - Mr. and Mrs. U. M. Aldridge, of Pleasant Garden, are spending a few days here with relatives. Mr. James Ferree, of Cedar Falls was in town Sunday evening. Quite a crowd attended the lawn party on the school grounds Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. John Coltrane and family, of Greensboro, are spending? a few days here with relatives and friends. , Mrs. D. O. Coble, who has been sick for some time, does not improve much Mr. I. J. Julian spent one df y last week in Greensboro, shopping. Miss Ollie Routh and Mr. Virgil Lineberry, of Gray's Chapel, spent a few hours in town Sunday evening the guests of Miss Mayme Ellis.
