FROM OUR CORRESPONDENTS TRINITY ITEMS Miss Sadie Redick, who has been visiting relatives in Thomasville the past week, returned home Monday Mr. Lockwood Robins, of Durham, and Mr. Gcerge Ellis, of this place, returned Wednesday after spending a week in Salisbury, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fisher. Mrs. James Weeks, who has been visiting relatives in Edgecombe, re turned Friday, bringing with her her niece, Miss Ruth Gammcn, of Edge combe. They will spend a few days here before going to Junaluska. Mrs. Frank Stanback t.nd son, Jeof frey, of Raleigh, spent Sunday night in town, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Duke Harris. Misse6 Elizabeth md Dorothy Lowe, of Elon, stopped over on their return from Asheville and Connelly Springs and spent a week with their grandpa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Duke Harris, and their aunt, Mrs. J. D. Ballance. Mrs. Jane Weeks and Miss Gam mon left Tuesday for Junaluska, where they will stop at the Littleton College hotel for about ten days. Mr. Percy Bullard, of Raleigh, was the guest of his mother, Mrs. Benson Parker, Monday. Prof. Willis who with his family has been visiting Mr. and Mrs W. F. Ellis, left Wednesday to visit Prof. Willis' parents at Germr.ntown. The torn Thumb wedding which was given in the chapel last week by the little foks with Mrs. Marsh Bullard and -several of the club women man aging, was cne of the most unique entertainments we have ever had here. Mr. and Mrs. David White and fam ily, of Charlotte, are visiting Mrs. White's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Paul. It is quite a pleasure to all of us to see Dave and Sarah and their lit tle family. Messrs. George Ellis, Lockwood Robbins, and Joe Ellis went to High Point Friday evening where they were the guests of Mrs. J. J. Farris, who gave a house party in her home. Miss Patterson, of Mt. Holly, is the guest of Miss Lucy Crowder. Mr. Ned Pegram, of Durham, is spending the week with his aunt, Miss Kate Craven. Miss Mamie Caudle, of Sanford, is the guest of her grandmother, Mrs Benson Parker. Misses Viola and Thelma Johnson are visiting their aunt, Mrs. H. H. Hayes.. . Misses Odell Peacock and Lucy Neal Carr were in town a few days the guests of Mrs. O. W. Carr. Mr. H. H. Hayes, who has been at home wjth a sprained foot, the result of an auto accident, is improving but is not yet able to walk. Mr. Vick, who has been sick for' a Jong time, is no better. Hiss Eileen Lambe, of Randleman, spent, several days in town as the guest of Misses Clyde Hill and Min nie Leade. ; . Mrs. M. C. Pepper, who has been visiting her son, Mr. Claude Pepper, at Hamlet, returned home Saturday afternoon. ... Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Ballance and Mrs. Alford motored down Sunday .afternoon from Clover Craft, their country home, to spend a week with Mesdames Ballance and Carpenter,and Mr. D. M. Ballance and family. Mr. Clay Bullard is visiting his mother, Mrs. Benson Parker; Mrs. Royals, of Sampson, and Mrs, Louise Bullard, of Durham, are visit ing Mrs. Benson Parker. Mr. Cyrus Thompson, of Raleigh, came in Sunday to visit Mr. Gray Phillips. Mr. Marsh Bullard and wife re turned from a short trip to Asheville Monday. The Ladies Missionary Society will meet in Prof. Johnson's study at the college Thursday at 3:30 p. m. Mr. and Mrs. Dutton, of High Point, and Misses Mary and Helen Carter 6pent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Carter at Oakwood. Master Robert Ellis entertained quite a number of his little friends on Wednesday evening. Notwithstanding the inclement weather most of those invited were present and all report a delightful time. , The Ellis home on Elmwood comer lends itself charmingly to such an en tertainment and the little folks had room enough for all kinds of fun, Ice cream and cake were served and all was joy and laughter. Misses Bessie and Lucy Blair, of Greensboro, are the guests of relatives in town. MARTIN'S MILL NEWS The protracted meeting began at Shady Grove Sunday with a very large congregation. Rev. H.S. Smith preach ed two able sermons. In last week's Courier in the Mar tin's Mill News, there was an item which spoke of the recent singing school here as the first one Mr. A. M. Fentress had conducted here. It should have read the third. Mr. Fen tress is with us this week to conduct the' music for the meeting at Shady Grove. ''We have been having some nice showers for the past two weeks and crops are looking very much revived. There was a -social at Mr. W. E. Borough's last Saturday night and all who attended report a nice time. Mrs. O. A. Hurley, Misses Jewel and little sister, Evelyn, of Burling ton, are visiting Mrs. A. F. Martin. Mr. Birch, of Troy, who will take charge of the school at Piney Grove, spent Friday night at Mr. W. E. Bor ough's. Messrs. -W. C. Martin and J. B. Floyd were business visitors to Troy Friday. Little Miss Verda Briles visited at Mr. David Walker's Thursday night. Mrs. J. M. Spencer is recovering from a very serious illness. Miss Lola Walker spent the week end at Mr. J. M. Spencer's. Mr. Lindsay Snider spent part of last week in High Point, having den tal work done. Mr. and Mrs. Lee A. Briles and Mr. Wesley Welborne erpect to attend the county Sunday school convention at Ramseur, this week. Misses Hester and Fleta Wallace were pleasant visitors at the singing last Friday. Misses Ara and Loris Collett spent a few days last week with friends around Pleasant Hill. Miss Vera Farlow, of Sophia, route, recently visited Miss Minnie Davie. On Thursday July 29th, a number of our young people enjoyed a very pleasant outing on Ridge's mountain, going in a wagon and in buggies. They reached the top of the moun tain about one o'clock, and after en joying a real picnic dinner, set out to explore the mountain, taking many pictures as they went. They started home about five o'clock. Those con stituting the party were: Mr. Troy Briles and family, Mrs. Lee A Briles and children, Misses Maggie, Hester and Fleta Wallace, Kate Caffy, Clara Briles, Mattie Thayer, and Olive John son, and- Messrs.
