Tiie Watts Bill Now in Operation and Transylvania Sliould Be
On July tlie tirst the Watts bill
went into etfect and we Jiow have
no government distillery in Tran
sylvania. We have therefore
what should be a di y county and
jit is the duty of every citizen to
i do all in his ]>ower to suppress
any illicit tratitic in liquor that
shut down a distillery where sev
eral of their henchmen are em
ployed, for not only may he be

one vote. Do our dei>nty collect
ors examine the serial numbers
on the stamps of the barrels sent
Government’s efforts to investi
gate and to suppress it. There
is nothin^ unreasonable in ask
ing corporations to produce pa
pers in evidence which alone will
enable the Interstate Commerce
Commission to judge whether
the laws of the land are being vio
lated oi* not. If the Coal Trust
thinks that William Randolph

The street overseer reported
having collect<?d during the two
months he has been in office the
large sum of nearly s1."j0,00 for
street work. This is tlie largest
amount ever collected by any

and 1 , .
credit lor the able manner in
which the business of the town is
being looked after. The only
trouble seems to be that hands |
are so scarce here that they can !
not be secured to work on the I
streets; there is more work going ■
on here than tiiere are hands to
do it.
The intention oT the l>oard is
to give lirevai'd the best streets

here, and they have the iiioiiey to
carry their intentions into efi'ect.
There are many im[)rovements
