No doubt.that “DoctorEd’’ will feel like holding another county con vention and taking Smith down, but both of them can argue from now until election, but still the good, old-fashioned republicans will know that the two republcan bosses of Transylvania county put out a flopdoodle for sheriff this year. The letter written by Mr. Smith was published in the Jackson County Journal of March 18th, 1904. It was written from Guin- eys, Va.. where Mr. Smith was working for Mr. W. Luther Aiken of Brevard, and below we publish was one of the few counties in the t-enth congressional district; that showed a big falling otf in ^ republican votes, and that under ; your reign as bosses of your par- \ ty h<3re?
