He is a lawyer and has his family at Pine llurst spend ing the Winter. - A cur dog was found dead near the railroad track at the crossing on Broad street Sun day morning. It is supposed that the fast train struck j him duringthe night and knocked him some twenty feet. Scarce ly a week passes but what some hogs are .killed by the train here in town, and still the people al low their hogs to run at large. W learn that Dr. Clarence Porter Jones, of Rockingham, Richmond county, has located at our neighboring town of Ben son for the practice of medicine, and succeeds Dr. V. E. Tur lington, who has retired from the practice and moved to his farm. Dr. Jones is a native of Virginia and comes to this com munity with excellent recom mendations as a physician and citizen. Ilawlev, wife of Mr J. L. Haw ley, died after a lingering ill ness of several weeks.
