The Bigest Excursion that has ever left Dunn will go to Wilmington Friday. Leave Dunn at 7 :25. . One hundred and fifty con victs passed here Monday after noon on the south bound train. They were going from the State farms to Ashpolex to work on grading a railroad. Remember that the Dunn High School opens its fall ses sion on Monday, August 21st. If you have a child you wish to send to school this school offers superior advantages. In the Peacock's X Roads section in Johnston county we learn that a great many hogs are dying with the cholera. We have heard of a few farmers in that section that have lost all the hogs they had by the chol era. . The freight train on the road here has changed its sched ule. It now goes south on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and North on the other days of the week. This change is quite a convenience to our people and the town. We learn that the wife of Mr. W. C. Barefoot of Mingo township, Sampson county, died almost suddenly Monday morn ing. She had been unwell for some days but had not taken her , bed. After breakfast sue complained of feeling worse and lay down on the bed and was dead in a few minutes. She was about 33 years of age and leaves a husband and several children to mourn her death. The little son of Dr. Charles W. Byrd was run over yesterday afternoon by a street hack, with the result that 'several painful bruises were sustained. Ashe ville Gazette. Mr. Byrd is a native of Harnett and his friends here are sorry to learn of the .accident overtaking his little son. The building committe must have been out of town when the foundation for that mammoth (?) structure was laid on Broad street. Such build ings as this should not be al lowed on the main streets, and hone the building commit- x Miss Fannie Cox left Satur day for Goldsboro to visit rela tives and friends. Mr. J. M. Bingham, of Smith field, spent Sunday in town with Mr. G. K. Grantham'. Dr. Herman Home and his mother returned to their home at Clayton Monday. Mrs G. F. Pope and children, of Pembroke, are visiting Mrs. R. M.Warren in the city. Mr. W. E. Murchison, one of the best and brightest attorneys in Moore county, spent Monday night in town. Miss Florence Holder, after spending several days at her home in the country, returned to the city Monday. Mr. Maicom Shaw, of Paolia, was in town last Saturday and left us one dollar on his sub scription. Miss Nettie Barnes returned home to-day from Greensboro where she has been for s o m e weeks visiting her sister Mrs C. C.Fordham. Mr. H. T. Spears, the clever representative of the .Etna Life Insurance Company, spent sev eral days in town with his fam ily this week. Mesdames E. F. Young and J. C. Clifford are spending sev eral daVs at Carolina Beach. They will return on the excur sion next Friday. Prof, John T. Alderman, of Columbus, Ga., who is assistant superintendent of the graded schools of that city, spent sev eral days in town with his brother," Mr. A. E. Alderman this week. Miss Minnie Best, an accom plished young lady of Golds boro, is visiting her uncle, Mr. J. L. Thompson.
