TOPPIN OROWNED. Bunday morning about ball past eleven o'clock our entire coraiminity ru shocked when the new* reached here that Mr. B E. Toppin had drowned in the Obownn river near Holly’s wharf. Mr Toppin went in bathing Sun day morning with others, and, not being a good swfanmer, got beyond hia depth and drowned before help could reach him The body was recovered about ten o’clock Monday, the river having been dragged Sunday afternoon and Monday. The news made his wife swoon and become very ill Dr. Whichard was called and made her as comfortable as pos sible. but, ef co urse, she is broken hmrtcd. Mr. Toppin waa the Nor folk-Southern agent at Cisco, and was said to render efficient service in this capacity 88 years ole the day before his death, he was a member of Center Hill Baptist church and attended reg alary church and Sunday school service.
