BERQ 18 HO8TE88 AT WEDNESDAY CLUB MEET The Brevard Wednesday club was entertained at the home of Mrs. Thor vald A. Berg, with the president Mrs. David Ward, presiding. Seventeen members and one guest—Mrs. Tancey Elliott—were present. The meeting was opened with the reading of the Clubwomen's Collect, led by Mrs. P. N. Simons. Various committee reports were made, including a report of more dona tions of food and money to the public school lunch room. Mrs. Allison ask ed that certain needed equipment be donated to the room and cooperation was assured by the members. Special gifts were made for the Christmas dinner to be given the children at the lunch room. After the transaction of routine busi ness the meeting was turned over to the program leader, Mrs. A. H. Harris, who gave a fine account of the Drama of Satire and George Bernard Shaw. She related that Shaw dismissed love as ridiculous,. from a mental stand point. and that he claimed that both men and women pursure eacch other. She discussed his inability to portray the female mind. Mrs. J. S. Sllversteen assisted In the program by giving an interesting re view of Mr. Shaw and mentioned his most prominent plays. Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Sllversteen then read a de lightful excerpt from the play "Man and Superman," which proved most entertaining. Mrs. Frank Jenkins al so assisted by reading several very clover bits of Shaw's work. During the social hoar, characteris tic holiday refreshments were served by the hostess. The club then adjourn ed to meet with Mrs. J. M. Allison on Jan. 6th, with Mrs. Thomas Wylie as program leader. QUEBEC NEWS Uncle Jack Whitmire. 85. la serious ly ill at the home of his son.
