Watkins and sister, Mrs. J. B. Rogers, have been called to Asheville. PATTERSON-QUEEN WEDDING ANNOUNCED Miss Dovle Patterson and Mr. Fer rell Queen were married May 16th, the Rev. Ernest Boley, of the Gloucester section, officiating. Mrs. Queen Is the daughter of the late Waddle Patterson and Mrs. Patter son, of the East Fork section. Mr. Queen Is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Queen, of Jackson county. The couple will reside In the East Fork section. MARSHMALLOW ROAST ENJOYABLE AFFAIR Ray and Glenn Winchester enter tained with a marshmallow roast near their homo In the Calvert section Thursday night, honoring tbelr cousin, Marlon Woods, of Pickens, S. C. Games were played around the camp fire and the toasting of the marsh mallows offered much pleasure. Parson entertained with a party Thursday afternoon May 12, honoring her daughters. Emily and Ruth, sixth and eighth birthday anni versaries. The color arrangement In pink and white was carried out in decorations and refreshments. Pink candles deco rated the birthday cake and carna tion pinks were the flowers used. Re freshments of strawberry Ice cream, cakes and candy were served. Games were played, and the opening of the many lovely gifts afforded much pleas ure. Mrs. Parson was assisted in games and serving refreshments by Misses Bessie Glazener, and Bessie Whitmire. Guests present were as follows: Emily Belle Pangle, Christine Powell, Demeta Jackson. MUSICAL ENTERTAINERS ARE HONORED WITH PICNIC EVENTS i A group of friends entertained Mr. and Mrs. Fisher Hendley and children and the "Aristocratic Pigs" at Igjke Toxaway Sunday. A delicious picnic dinner was served at the noon hour at White Pine camp. Music by the Aristocratic Pigs and Mrs. Joe E. Osborne, group singing and games were enjoyed. Motion pictures were made by Dr. Joe E. Osborne. The party was entertained with a fish fry at the home of Mr. and Mrs R. L. Hogsed at six o’clock. A motion picture hour by Dr. Os borne and music by the Aristocratic Pigs and Mrs. Joe E. Osborne were en joyable features. Invited guests present were as fol lows: Mr. and Mrs. Fisher Hendley and daughter, Helen, and son, Graham, Roley Ray, Little Boy Blue, Cousin Ezra, and Sam Poplin of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. R. J. Galloway, and other relatives. Howard Alexander recently left his home here In search of employment. His mother, Mm. 8. E. Alexander, said she did not know his destination. W. F. McCall has returned from Miami, Fla., where he was recently called for a few weeks' work. After looking over the job, he said he had decided his time was worth more at home at this time than a few weeks' work there. Anyway those who live there the year around need the job he would be taking If he stayed. Mrs. Alma Chapman and little son, of Camp Edlsto, were here last week for a short visit to her sister, Mm. Frank Fisher, and family. Miss Daisy Fugate, of Cashiers, spent a night here last week with her cousin, Mrs. I. 8. Sanders, and family. Gus Galloway passed through our village last week on his way home for a few days’ visit. His major operation has not yet been performed, since his general health had to be Improved be fore he could stand a serious operation. He returned to the hospital after a short stay with his mother and other relatives. Charlie Reid made a business trip te I Seneca, B. C„ last week. Billy Nicholson, of Rosman, is spend ing some time here with bis grand mother Nicholson. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Revis, of Salem, S. C., spent Saturday night here with the latter’s brother, Verner Redman, and family. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Reid visited Mr and Mrs. E. D. Reid Sunday afternoon. Mr. Reid has been on the sick Hat for some time but Is reported to be Im proving. Mr. and Mrs. Weaver Taylor and little daughters.
