_ Valuable and Merchandise CO-ED THE/ Tuesday, February 22, - 9:15 p. in SPONSORED BY MERCHANTS COMMITTEE OF BREVARD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUY WAR BONDS 4”WAR LOAN . • •'Ti - a . ^ - "V-'* AfTAltCRS fQft vtcronV The Fourth War Loan is approaching the climax. Additional time has been allowed citizens of the country in which to buy bonds to support the war effort as the fighting reaches a critical stage. Brevard business men have already bought bonds but they, like so many of our soldiers on the battlefield, are willing to do more to swell the sale of war bonds in Transylvania county. Accordingly, acting through the Merchants Committee of the Brevard Chamber of Com merce, they have provided an array of tempting merchandise and essential services to be sold at auction next Tuesday evening. Bidding for these articles and services will be in bonds. What this amounts to is really a bonus or premium. The person to whom each is knocked down agrees to purchase his bid in war bonds, which will be available at the theatre. The list below will show the wide variety of articles and services being offered. The dona tion made by each firm is listed immediately under its name. On auction night, there will be only one complete show, the feature of which will be “The Sultan’s Daughter.” A special price of 30 cents has been made by the management for this particular evening. At the conclusion of the show, admission to the theatre will be free and the auction will begin at 9:15. John Ford, Jerry Jerome and C. M. Douglas will do the cry ing. Music will be furnished by the Ecusta string band. Trapped-But Not Beaten! We remember Pearl Harbor distinctly. Time was when it was merely an American outpost in the Pacific; now it is a symbol of Japanese perfidy. We have resolved that the Japs shall remember Pearl Harbor, too, and. shall make amends for the crime they committed there. The American offensive in the Pacific is rolling and Tojo and his thugs cannot stop it. Strengthen it . . . make it overwhelming . . . by buying war bonds! When the artist portrayed Hitler snared and squirming in a rat trap he had the right idea. He's caught, all right—caught grabbing for the pos sessions of others, but he and his cohorts can still do a lot of damage— the amount depending in large measure on hew energetically we sup port the war effort.
