Cantrell, Secretary And Landreth Treasurer John Allen McCrary was elected president of the student council at Brevard high school in an election held Monday, and with him on the winning slate were Patsy Duncan, vice president; Walter Cantrell, secretary; and Bill Landreth, treasurer. Other candidates for the presi dency were Walter Cantrell, Doris Willingham, Roan Peterson, Joan Teague, Bill Landreth, and Roberta Harris. The campaign for student coun cil presidency started Monday, Ap ril 20th, and continued for a week. Campaign managers for each can didate displayed posters in the halls, introduced their candidate at a student rally at which time each gave a speech. The complete list of council members for next year is as fol lows: Twelfth grade: Bill Landreth, Bob Kellar, John McCrary, Keith Parker, Walter Cantrell, Roann Pe terson, Joan Teague, Doris Wil lingham, Roberta Harris and Betty B3Td. Eleventh grade: Etta Snelson, Nancy Pickelsimer, Vivian Hol lingsworth, Patsy Duncan, Clifton Metcalf, Gene Baker and Matthew Lavell. Tenth grade: Margaret Shipman, Reva Cox, Shirley Byrd, Joe McGa- ha, James Nicholson and Gayle Ramsey. Nominations for the best school citizen were also made at this time. The selection will be by se cret ballot. Nominees are William Arnette, Harry Sellers, John Ed ward Cox, Charles Weiss, Jimmy Edens, Anne Foster, Don Gilliam, Kathleen Gaines, Teddy Kellar, Jo ann Galloway, Roy McCall, Peggy Gardner, Charles Moore, Ann Gar- ren, Kenneth Parker, Betty Meece, Sarah Shipman, Doug Poteat, "Hey ward Ramsey and Betty Willing ham. Rev. Henson In Miss. Holding A Youth Revival By MRS. PAUL FISHER QUEBEC — Rev. Gene Henson, pastor of Oak Grove church is away this week preaching in a\ youth revival in Myrtle,,Miss. Rev. Melvin Green, of Green ville, S. C., preached at Oak Grove Sunday in the absence of the pas tor. Rev. Kadez Wilde, who is attend ing North Greenville college, will preach next Sunday morning. Rev. Henson is expected to be back for service Sunday night. We extend a cordial invitation to everyone to worship with us. Bud Sitton, Lee Miller and Ger ald Moore, with thirteen boys, at tended an R. A. meeting at Little River church Friday night. B. W. Jackson, state R. A. counselor was guest speaker. He talked on work of Royal Ambassadors and he also showed slides which the boys all greatly enjoyed. Will Raines, of Lake Toxaway, spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Whitmire and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCall and son and little Sandra Brandon, of Cleveland, S. C., spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Onea Thom as and family. Mr. and Mrs. Obie Fisher and son, Ronny, of Brevard, were din ner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Meade Fisher. Denton Moore who has been em ployed in Charlotte, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Owen and Margaret Owen, of Lake Toxaway, were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Fisher and fam ily. Jack Smith was honored with a birthday dinner Sunday by his wife and children. Those who enjoyed the dinner with him were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Smith and children, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clark and son, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Patterson and son and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Mc Call, Jr., and children. Mr. and Mrs. M. 0. McCall, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin McCall toured Highlands and Horse Cove, Sunday afternoon. Singing Set Sunday At Etowah Church An old-fashioned Christian Har- Diony singing will be held this Sun day, May 3rd, at the Etowah Meth odist church. The singing begins at 10 a. m. and will continue until about 3 P- ni. A picnic lunch will be served at noon. A large crowd is expected and everyone is invited to come and 3oin in the singing.
