Cecil McMinn had 210-584 and Bob Brown 221-561 for losers. Cochran Construction won a 2-1 victory over second place Carlings Black Label as "Foot sie” Case chipped in with a 215 584, Tom McDonald 200-570 and Jim Mackey 199 • 542. Big John Jenkins led the losers with 221 89*. Country dub leads the team set with 2906. Smathers Fuel 011 leads the team single game with 1101 (which is a new WNC record). Woody Parker leads the high three game set with 697, “Footsie” Case has high sin gle |ame of 258, Cecil MoMinn leads in Singles missed with 18. John Emory leads with only one missed. In the Olin Men’s Wednesday league, Dennis Pressley 245-614 led the Ebcoes to a 3-1 win over the Rams to hold on to f irst place 1 game ahead of the Alleygators who shut out the Peddlers 4-0. Fugat 201-537 was high for the Alleygators. George Poor fired a 224-614 as the Pirates stayed 2 games out of first place and Brewer had 212-570 and Johmwn 211-561. Other scoring: Robinson 213 559, Bob Brown 204-543, Ras mussen 188 - 519, Tesnow 186 515, Bromfield 177-504 and Chandler 220 -525. Leon - Howard 192 - 531 led Goodwill Motors to a 3-1 win over league leading Brevard Lanes in the Men’s Wednesday Night league. Johnson had 202 508 and Israel 196-507. Case 218-584 was high for losers. Almany’s Shell slipped by West ern Auto 3-1 as Fletcher 221 584. Galloway had 175-507. Biltmore held to second place with a 4-0 shut out over AM VETS Club. Kinsey was high for winners with 188-529. The Women Coffee league found all four winning teams taking 3 -1 wins. Brevard Motor Lodge over Martin-Jones, Bry ant Electric over Justus, Chick en Kitchen over Brevard Lanes and Kearns over Brevard Fed eral. Scores: Schmidt 174-504, Nelson 170 - 457, Pickelsimer 199 -436, Smith 157 -416, Groves 158-424, Davidson 180-475, Byrd 164 - 456 and games of Al len 164 and Howard 166. In the Thursday “A” the Reb els handed the league leading Rockets a 3 -1 loss and dropped them to third place, while the Sparkies and Bucks took 4 - 0 shut out victories from the Gam blers and Comets to move into a tie for first place with 21-7 records. Pete Wright was high for the Sparkies with 205-544 and Jack Eubanks fired 234-583 for the Bucks. Other games and sets: Meece 202 - 567, Charlie Parker 237 575, Kinsey 202-530, Owen 204 536, games. Tornadoes Lose Defensive Battle The soccer team lost its home cpener to King College two weeks ago, 1-0. The only score of the game came in the second quarter when King scored on a penalty kick. For the whole game both for ward lines mounted several at tacks but were unable to score. Brevard's defense was aided by the return of half-back Bob Tuck and the usual fine play of goalie Jim Cabe. A good crowd of alumni and students showed up for the Homecoming event. The specta tors were very spirited and re sponsive. For the first time the cheer leaders led the fans and were CflunmmiinmniinmmmnimMHHmimmmMiUHHHiHHWMWttWinnHMHMHHWWWWWII | TORNADO SPORT by Wes Howe Harriers Win Triangular Meef j Brevard took first in a trian gular meet with Asheville Bilt rnore and Lees McRae with these scores: Brevard—28, Asheville Biltmore—45%, and Lees McRae —46%. John Hubner took first place in 15:44 minutes. Larry Burch took fourth for the Tornadoes in the time of 16:21. The other placers for the Har riers were Joe Brown in fifth place and Vernon Arnold and Mike Fails in seventh and elev enth places respectively. Brevard lost its Homecoming meet to Wingate. Wingate had 21 points to Brevard’s 36. John Hubner won his second meet in a row. His time was 14 minutes and 33 seconds. Vernon Arnold took sixth, Joe Brown eighth, Mike Falls tenth, and Glenn Sherratt eleventh for the Harriers. The team was without the serv ices of Larry Burch, who was out with injured legs. ★ ★ ★ Brevard traveled to Furman on Oct. 23 for the usual two and one-half mile run. Instead, Furman suggested that a two mile run or the track be held. Although the Tornadoes were backed up by a band of stu dents and alumni.
