The Groom DroppjMl $9 090 in a Den ver Faro ttstaudishmcait. A little over a week ago. G. W. Johnson, a New York Stock broker, married the daughter of a member of the New York Stock Exchange. The father of tha bride, in order to assist the newly married couple, presented the groom with a check for $10,000. After considering the matter the couple de cided to visit Denver, Col., on their wedding tour. Last Thursday they arrived and registered at the Windsor Hotel. During the evening Mr. Johnson met an old friend, who was out here for his health. At tbe earnest solicita tion of their n wly found friend the pair visited one of the leading gambling houses. Thinking this a good opportunity to increase his wealth Mr. Johason took a hand at faro, and to mak3 the story short, $0,000 was lost within three hours. Tbe next day among tbe passengers on the Rock Island train Eastward bound were Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, who will avoid Denver in the future. There is nothing in the tow to prevent a union of a couple with such a disp irity of ap.-s when tho rather of the girl consents. No reason for tbe strange marriage was given. Mr. Welser. the prospective bridegroom, was formerly a resident of Mciveesport, Pa., and for many years was well known as con nected with tbe circus business. He trav eled as a clown with tbe circus of "Jim" Taylor for a number of years, until tbe snow struck a yellow fever district and, hair the perform rt dying, the company was broken up.
