I Asked a Piano Tuner "Is it not true that the tone qual ity of a good piano is materially im paired by the addition of a player mechanism 1" '"No," he replied. "Every piano requires systematic tuning, tone and action regulating. The addition of a player action does not alter this. As a matter of fact player touch cannot be told from that of the human per former, and is even more delicate. Furthermore, pianos that are never used deteriorate much faster than those" that are played upon daily. For the same reason a jeweler keeps his clocks and fine watch movements running." "Are they not constantly out of order ?" I asked. "At the present time I should say that they give no more trouble than a good chronometer?" he replied. "Take the Kimball Acmelodic Player Piano. Its accessibility is one of its most valuable features both to the tuner and owner. The entire player action can be removed in less than a minute; their flexible metal tubing is indestructible; their composite valves never swell, warp or shrink; it contains fewer working parts and its ease and simplicity of operation make it, to my mind, the most desir able player piano on the market." The Kimball Acmelodic Player Piano has all the essentials for repro-, ducing hand-played music. This instrument plays the full scale, 88 notes plays Kimball or any 88-note roll full, round, rich, mellow tone, selected materials, best workmanship, roll-guiding device, Acmelodic soloist, ten exclusive im provements, music roll library priv ileges. We will take your "never-played" piano m part payment. Kimball si ' 'Player.PiariQ DUNHAMS music house: ASHEVILLE. N. C. (Series Copyrighted 1012; W.W. Kimball Co.) I Asked an Automobilist "Is it true that owners of cars be come so inoculated with the speed germ that the home is only used as a sort of place to sleep in 1" "Your question may hit some of my friends pretty hard, and it nearly got me," he replied. "When we first purchased our car, we virtually lived in it. I hardly took sufficient time in which to eat my meals. In fact, we might have been going yet if it hadn't been for my wife. "One night she said to me: " 'Frank, don't you think we are neglecting the children and our home altogether too much for all our sakes ?' " 'I guess we are I replied. "'On the other hand, I have sort of lost my taste for reading, and the car has made the home seem rather quiet "'Guess I'll have to provide some sort of home entertainment she said, end she did. "She purchased a Kimball Acme lodic Player Piano, and now I hardly know which I enjoy the most, the car or the player. "One thing is certain, however, it furnished the necessary home coun terbalance it has drawn us closer together and has put the emergency brake on the speed bug." -.
