Barrows, The Times, Printing Co.. Hendersonville, N. C. Gentlemen :- The Resort and Good Roads edition gotten out by French Broad Hustelr and Western North Carolina Times re flects credit on your good work, and will without doubt redound to the credit of the city you represent, bring ing benefits that cannot be estimated at this time. The people of Hender sonville owe you a debt of gratitude that cannot be quickly paid.- An edi- ftion of this size, coming as it does from a city of the proportions of Hen dersonville. shows thrift, energy, pro gress and prosperity. If I can aid you in any way in dis tributing this issue, I shall take pleas- l ure in doing so. It marks a new era in journalism is your city, and will without doubt be a potent factor in the Good Roads movement There is no better evidence of the march and progress of Western .North Carolina than is demonstrated in the support that your joint papers receiv cd from the merchants and business people in the communities. While immediate results may not accrue, the seed sown by your Good Roads edition is bound to take root and bring forth fruil abundantly. Sincerely yours. Greater Western North Carolina Association. Per S. H. COHEN, Manager. (Spartanburg Herald.) The Western Carolina Democrat and Western North Carolina Times, Hendersonville, issued a "Resort and Good Roads Edition" last week that is a wonder, not only from a typo- ! graphical point of view, but from the ' splendid character of its contents, ex- ploiting that great region of the coun. 1 try toward which all the south turns j at this season of the year for rest ! and recreation. To begin with, here are some "good road facts" the papers present: "Rutherford county has voted $250,- 000 for roads; Polk county hasvoted $100,000; Madison $300,000; Bun- combe county has just issued $50,000; McDowell has ordered the issue of $100,000. and Transylvania $50,000. The amount which will be spent in Henderson county is estimated at $210.000 this amount being derived mainly from county end township bond tQ be .gsued by mandate of tne ie&jsiature or by petition. "This makes a total of $1,060,000." Apage is devoted to the climate of the region and this is followed by an interesting and authentic article on fruit-growing in Western North Car- North Carolina Association is doing is also presented. Flat Rock, Saluda and others of the popular resort towns of the moun tains are given much space. As the papers 'say: "Perhaps the most interesting picture which ap pears in the 'Resort and Good Roads Edition is the accompaning radius map, showing existing power and railroad developments in this section which lies just south ofus." The map referred to is one of the proposed developments of the Blue Ridge Interurban railway, projected by the Manufacturers Power com pany, the project being promoted by Spartanburg men. The map shows the proposed power station on Green river, near Saluda, and electric lines radiating from the point to Landrum, Inman, Spartanburg and Chesnee, S. C, and Rutherfordton, Marion, Ashe ville, and Brevard, N. C. On the whole the "Resort and Good Roads Edition" of the Hendersonville papers is one of themost interesting every" published in North Carolina. It presents the facts concerning a region little . exploited heretofore from a commercial, agricultural and indus trial standpoint, and it proves its case.
