Plans are being made to build a new Baptist church here in the near future. Mr. Chanta Green died suddenly Saturday of heart trouble and was buried Sunday at Wall , Rev. Z. D. Harrill conducting the funeral ser vices. He leaves a wife and several children. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Blanton visited relatives in Raleigh and Apex last week, returning home Sunday. Misses Myrtle and Lucy, daugh ters of Mr. George White, who live near here, are very sick with men ingitis. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Martin and Mrs. T. (■. Wood, of Mooresboro. spent a few hours here Sunday on their way hotne from the singing convention in Forest City. Miss Pauline Harrelson spent the week-end in Cherryville visiting her parents. Mr. Tom Brinkley, of Concord, visited friends here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Withrow and children, of rfollis, visited here] Sunday. Miss Madge Harrill, who has a position with the Lincoln Creamery Co., at Lincolnton, spent Sunday with homefolks. Little Willeen Baber has been very sick with scarlet fever, but is improving some now, Miss Marguerite Leverette, who is attending school at Cherryville, spent Saturday and Sunday with her aunt, Mrs. O. R. Coffield. Revival services wiil be held at the Ellenboro Presbyterian church beginning Thursday nighi, October loth. The pastor, Rev. K, L. Whit tington wiil be assisted by Rev. Owing to some confusion in the announce-* rnents only one choir (the Mountain View) was present It was to have been an all day singing and dinner was to have been brought, but nei ther the Shiioh, Spindale or any other choir was present, so it was called off after the' Mountain View choir did tome good singing, L. W. Griffin ha? returned to South Carolina after a short visit home. Miss Edwards, of Rutherfordton, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Spurgeon Yelton. Miss Sudie Harton is visiting Mrs. Clara Carswell. A fair was held at the Welfare House Saturday afternoon. The children of the village exhibited fancy needlework, doll ciothes, sola pillows, etc., and the ladies exhibit ed canned fruits, flowers, garden produce, fancy work, etc. Mrs. Clara Carswell showed several cu riosities that her husband brought back from France. After the exhi bitions, iced tea was served and the ladies and children especially went away feeling refreshed and thank ing Mrs. Carswell for her generos ity. . • Work on the new school building, the Spencer and Spindale Mills and the new Spindale Mill continues to go forward uninterupted.
