DRUGS EXCITE YOUR KIDNEYS, USE SALTS If Your Back Hurts or Bladder Bothers, Drink Lots of Water. "When your kidneys hurt and your back feels sore, don't get scared and proceed to load your stomach with a lot of drugs that excite the kidneys and irritate the entire urinary tract. Keep your kidneys clean like you keep your bowels clean, by flushing them with a raild, harmless salts which re moves the body's urinous waste and stimulates them to their normal activ ity. The function of the kidneys is to filter the blood. In 24 nours they strain from it 500 grains of acid and waste, so we can readily understand the vital importance of keeping the kidneys active. Drink lots of water —you can't drink too much; also get from any pharma cist about four ounces of Jad Salts; take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast each morning for a few days and your kidneys will act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia, and has been used for generations to clean and stimulate clogged kidneys; also to neutralize the acids in urine so it no longer is a source of irritation, thus ending bladder weakness. •Tad Salts is Inexpensive; cannot in jure; makes a delightful effervescent lithia-water drink which everyone should take now and then to keep their kidneys clean and active. Try this, also keep up the water drinking, and no doubt you will wonder what became of your kidney trouble and backache. —Adv. Verdi. He gave poetry to human life and lifted it from sordid ways to hopeful ness and enthusiasm, and the people rose to their leader. His first operas were introduced with difficulty, which all beginners experience; but the Ital ian ear, long trained in musical com position, and with inherited taste from of old, accorded Verdi as a mas ter. When once known he was there after loved. —James D. Phelan. "CALIFORNIA FIG SYRUP" IS CHILD'S LAXATIVE Look at tongue! Remove poisons from stomach, liver and bowels. Tennessee W oman RUN-DOWN NERVOUS COULD REST AT NIGHT Chattanooga, Tenn.:—"About three years ago I waa so broken down in health that I could scarcely tget around to do my housework. My ner ves were in a terrible state —1 could not rest at night and felt like crying all the time. I had had suppression for twelve months and my friends thought I waa going into a de cline. I was just as miserable as one could be when Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription was recommended to me and I am confident that this medicine not only restored me to perfect health but it saved my life. I took eight bottles and all my nervousness left me entirely. I weighed only 78 pounds when I started to take the 'Prescription' but I soon filled out until I attained my normal weight of 120 pounds. For womanly ailments Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription is a reliable remedy and I would not hestiate to recommend it to any woman who suffers from irregularity or suppression'and nervousness." — MBS. "Well," said the Gray Squirrel whose name was Georgie, "I believe now that I've had a nice rest in my leafy nest that I'll attend the great banquet." "In fact, your're sure you will," said Mrs. Georgie. "In fact I am," agreed Georgie. "Were you invited?" asked Mrs. Georgie. "Oh, no," said George, "but I'm sure it will be a pleasure for them to have me." "Are you quite sure of that?" asked Mrs. Georgie with a sly wink. "Oh, quite sure," said Georgie. But he, too, winked. "I notice you haven't asked me to go," she said. "Well, won't you come?" he asked in a voice which said, "I hope, though, you have a previous invitation." "Sorry I can't come," said Mrs. Georgie. "Too bad," Georgie said, very cheer ful now. "By the way," he added, "you've nothing up your sleeve, I trust?" "Up my sleeve, up my sieeve?" re peated Mrs. Georgie. "No, I've noth ing up my sleeve except fur." She looked at her gray fur and smoothed it. "No, sir, there is nothing up my sleeve." "Now you know perfectly well, Mrs. Georgie, that that is merely an expres sion. That is to say, it is merely a saying—nothing more nor less than a few words put together which mean something else." "I know what it means," laughed Mrs. Georgie; "I was only teasing you, you see. And if I were in your place I wouldn't keep on trying to explain something like that. It's best not to, for a squirrel isn't familiar enough with words." "A squirrel is familiar enough with one word." said Georgie. "Oh, yes," said Mrs. Georgie, "nuts." "Nuts is the word dear to the heart of any squirrel," said Georgie. Then, after a moment, he added, "Well, my dear, what are you going to do when I'm away; will you have a simple little supper of your own?" "I am going to a banquet, too." "What! Are you really coming to the banquet with me after all?" Georgie said, trying to be very polite. "Of course it would give me great pleasure to have you come, but I can't help won dering if they'll have enough to eat. They don't even expect me. -What do £/> They Don't Even Expect Me." you think?" Georgie Gray Squirrel put his head on one side and sat on his haunches. "I'd hate to see you go hun gry," he said. "Of course you would," grinned Mrs. Georgie. "And so I am not going to the banquet with you. Of course I said that before but when you heard I was going to a banquet of course you thought I must have changed my mind. You didn't know there were two ban quets today. But it was good of you to worry for fear I should come with you and didn't get enough to eat. Of course there would be doubt about it considering there isn't even a place set for you at the banquet." "Have you a special invitation to your banquet?" asked Georgie. Gracious, no!" she said. "I'm a good mate for you." "Well, did I ever!" said Georgie. "Aren't you the sly one. Where is your banquet to be?" "Ah, ha, ah, ha!" said Mrs. Georgie. "When you were asleep I heard of a banquet which was to take place in the woods —a sort of picnic walk —and I thought I'd go along to." "Oh dear, oh dear," said Georgie. "It's awful to think that I will miss it and yet my banquet sounds rather nice. Whatever will I do?" "Listen Georgie," said Mrs. Georgie, "we'll each do something for each other at the banquets which we go to. You can help me aitff I can help you. "At your barquet you eat all you possibly can so yon won't need a meal at home and won't have to go into the store house for a time, and I'll do the same at the banquet I'm going to —and then besides we'll each run away from time to time from our ban quets and store some extra pro visions. Surely they'll be glad to have us store away some of their extra food." "A fine idea," said Georgie. "Truly you are a good, bright mate, and I'm proud of you." "Yes, and I heard the children say they were going to have lots of pea nuts too!" "Cheers, cheers," said Georgie.
