Har rill land FOREST CITY, R. 1, Oct. 20.- The members of the Harris Commu nity Club, cjuring the past week, took part in several unusually fine ookmg demonstrations. On .Ihurs- day, at 3 o clock Mrs. D. C. Stewart was the hostess. A kitchen party was announced to friends and neighbors. Mr. W. V. Boell, demonstrator and dietician, gave out the latest and best word in prepara tion of foods. He demonstrated the Thermos Coffee Pot, invented by the late Marion Harland, noted cook and dietician; then came a pot roast prepared without giease, water or flour, browned tender and delicious; in the same pot were onions pota toes and rice, each food, retaining its own particular flavor; griddle cakes, such as old southern negro cooks prided themseves in service, fried without a particle of grease; a cake baked without an oven or an oii stove. Neither coffee nor the other foods emitted the slightest odor. Mr. Boell was assisted by Mr. W. F. Holland, who is the local dealer in Wear-ever kitchen equipment. In this interesting and compre hensive lecture, Mr. Boell dwelt on the growing interest in domestic science1 among college women, more important to the welfare of our na tion than any other factor. He stated that many esses of insanity, inebiates and criminals were trace able to malnutritan during child hood due to ignorance of proper iiets. On Fridav afternoon Miss Hattie Neill met with the club at the home of Mrs. Roy Miller, and gave a fine demonstration of egg cookery. Friday evening at 7:30 Mrs. M. M. Young was hostess to a second "kitchen party" given for the bene fit of those who were prevented from attending the afternoon party. Both parties were well attended and much valuable information gleaned from the lectures and demonstations. Mr. Holland presented the hostess in each instance with a Wear-ever iry pan. miss manene i owier ana Mrs. D. C. Henson won the attend ance prizes, each lady receiving a pie baker. The next regular club meeting will be held on Nov. 21st at the home of Mrs. M. M. Young. The subject will be "The School Lunch."
