Patriotism shows love for home. friends, country and nation. Beatrice Hawkins. DINNER PARTY THURSDAY, OCT. 23, 1924 "PATRIOTISM' the oiu Patriotism is one word of English language that make; whole being swell with pride. Every true American's views are filled with blood of patriotism. Patriotism, broadly denned, be gins in the home. Small boys or girls will not allow some other boy or girl to say naughty things about their older brothers or sisters. Then from the home we think of patriotism in the school. I dare say there is not a single boy or girl of Cliffside school that would stand idly by and see one of their class mates ill teated. What would you do? The very blood in my veins would tingle with school patriotism, and I would fight. If you want to see real school patriotism, just go out to a ball game where different schools show their patriotism by rooting for their school. Some times I think that school boys and girls are bound closer together by the bonds of patriotism than any other group of people. The American soldiers are the most true patriots of our land. Why are they? Because they knew their cause was a just one, and when they are in war they are in it to the finish. Blood shed is nothing to them because they give it free ly; that is patriotism. Do you not agree that patriotism is one of the most important words of the English language? If one desires to know whether they really feel patriotism or not, just go to the concert and hear the band play the hymn, The Star Spangle Banner. This will make one a true patriot.
