The following will be the routine i ■of the high school pupils. Friday,! i September 11th, all new pupils and 'the last year's seventh grade will meet I i in the grammar school auditorium at j Forest City at 3:30 for classifica-1 i tion. Monday September 14th all the J j high school pupils will meet in the ! Forest City Grammar Grade School i auditorium. At this meeting instruc tions will be given for the first few ! weeks of school. About 10 o'clock j the high school students will go over ito the new high school building for I class assignments. The high school | building will not be completed at j this time but it becomes necessary to I open school anyway. Enough of the building will be completed in order to begin work. School will have to be gin in the new building since the grammer grade building will not ac commodate the nigh school this year. The formal opening of the high | school will be postponed until the j school building is completed. This ' will be about the middle of October. j ! The high school books are at the ' Peoples Drug Store now. Get your I books this week and be ready for a j good start Monday. Also the Peoples ' Drug Store has a complete list of Grammar grade books on hand. All new pupils will be required to ; have a statement of work which they ! completed last year. If they do not have their report cards, it will be necessary for them to begin in the same grade they were in last year until they can get their report cards. It is necessary for us to keep a com plete record of the students, and we are asking only what other accredited schools require along this line. If any pupil failed on work last year ! and did not make it up at summer II school, will be given a chance to take the examinations Friday afternoon at the grammar grade building. You will note that the grades are ► divided into B and A sections. B | section means that they are begin • ning that grade, A sections means . that they are beginning the second | half of the year. This is the work of 1 the double promotion plan. The pu pils in A Sections will graduate from High School at the middle of the year. Pupils in the B Sections will graduate in the spring. Forest City has the double promotion system thru the fourth grade now. It will take seven more years to have the system thru the high school. The reason why we are so far advanced as it is, is due to the fact that the first and se cond grades had enough failures who had completed about half of the work to begin them in A sections. Last year a beginner class was started in January and another class will begin this January. Many advantages are received from this system. If a pupil is sick and has to be out a half year, it is permitted to begin work where it quit school in place of taking the whole grade over again. This saves cost of instruction and the pupils time also. Greensboro, Charlotte and oth er schools graduate a class now in January. The colleges have arranged their course of study to accommodate the pupils which graduate in January. The following is a list of books for all the grades from the first thru i the eleventh.
