Rev. Mr. Blanton has \ accepted the call and will assume his new duties in June. He has been elected alumni secretary of Wake ! COURIER SPINDALE NEWS j Spindale, April 28.—Mr. Howard Ledbetter was seriously injured Sat urday when he was hit by a revolv ing fan in the humidifying room of one of the local textile plants, while taking a bath. Mr. Ledbetter suffered a fracture of the skull. He was tak en to the Rutherford hospital, where at latest reports he is improving. An excellent Boy Scout Troop has been organized at the Spindale Meth odist church, with Rev. W. Arthur : Barber, scoutmaster and Mr. Max Tolleson, assistant scoutmaster. This troop went on an over-night trip to Lake Lure last Friday nigfet, and in addition to the fun incident to camp ing out, the boys had modi fun fish ing for whales or for minnows in , Lake Lure. The troop uneets each Friday night at the eJrorch in rec j reational department; ' The Spindale Methodist church will observe Mothers' day on May 10th, with special esrvaces at preach ing and at Sunday school. It is plan ned to observe "Family Day" also on this day, and all the members and others who may attend are re quested to sit together in Families •at the services. Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Clay, laft Sunday. \ ________ MEMORIAL SERVICE AT CONCORD CHURCH SUNDAY Bostic, R-l, April 27.—The annual memorial services will be held at Concord Baptist church Sunday. The program will open at ten o'clock, at which time the graves will be dec orated. A song service and speak ing will be at 1#:30 o'clock and the memorial sermon will be, at 11 o'- 2lock. Dinner will be served on the ground at noon, and in the after noon there will be singing from sev eral different choirs. Harris entertained at a week-end house party last week-end, at her lovely country home in Harris in honor of the following: Misses Cora Lee Dalton, Forest City; Edith Ann Pearson, Chalybeate Springs; Annie E. Kinlaw, Lumberton; Grace Har rill, Nona and Alice Morgan, Ruth erfordton and Mr. J. Elwood Doxey, Elizabeth City. On Friday evening a four course dinner was served.
