That means no paint. And, for mansion or cottage, the best mint is Many hearts in Scotland county were burdened with great sorrow Sun day afternoon when the announce ment came bearing the intelligence of the passing of Mrs. Kate A. Middle ton, whose death occurred just at the close of the Sabbath day at the home of her sister, Mrs. D. Z. Hardin. "God touched her with his finger and she slept", the poet wrote. So we may say of this good woman "God touched her with his finger and she slept", but not until a beautiful life stretching out over a period of eighty-one years and four months was lived, a noble example of patience, fi delity to truth and faith was given. She was a true friend, and her devo tion to those she loved, and to her dear friends, would make a bright chapter in any life. Her journey through life was a path marked with deeds of kindness and cheer, and not only do her loved ones mourn her passing, but her friends, and they are many, mingle their heart-felt grief as welK She was born in Scotland county and loved the land of her nativity and gave all of her life to its good. More than sixty years ago she connected herself with the Laurel Hill Presby terian church and was one of its old est members at her death. Naturally her health, because of the burden of years, had not been strong for sometime past, but up until a few days before her passing she was as well and as strong as usual. Sunday she began to show signs of a rapid weakening, and at six o'clock the separation came. The funeral, which was attended by a great concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives, was held at the home of her sister, Mrs. D. Z. Hardin Tues day morning at 10:00 o'clock, and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. H. Dixon. The interment was made at the city cemetery. The floral offerings were most pro fuse and beautiful, speaking tenderly of the great love and devotion of those who brought them as a last token of that love and esteem. Mrs. Middleton is survived by two sisters, Mrs. T. J. Breeden, of Ben nettsville, S. C, and Mrs. D. Z. Har din, of Laurel Hill township. She is also survived by three nephews, Mr. Russell Middleton, of Jacksonville, Fla., Mr. Joseph Middleton, of Wil mington, Mr. John Middleton, of Brunswick, Ga., and one neice, Mrs D. A. Smith, of Laurinburg. !W8bWi it j ""J'8MM1MMMM8MIIII nun ' mi r i himiih mi iimm inm mini i i n,a o roc irer v, V. iu will lie?
