MP m Mini mi mm pra 1Ht4 Building And Loan Asso ciation Is - Helping To Build Up Beaufort ' The annual meeting of the stockholders of the Beaufort Building and Loan Association was held Thursday evening in the rooms of the Old Topsail club. The report of the Secre tary showed that the assoaation is in ood shape and making vety satisfactory progress. Two series of stock have been issued and another series will be offered on the first of August. The association has outstanding loans amounting to $15,150. and has assisted in building ten houses since its organization and also in making improvements to several others. The association is undoubtedly contributing a great de?l to the development of Beaufort and is also making money for its stockholders. At the meeting Thursday even mg officers and directors were elected as follows: President G. W. Huntley, Vice president W. P. Smith, Secretary and Treasurer G. W. Duncan Directors; A. F. Doane, J. H. Dill, G. W. Huntley, U E. Swann, M C.Holland, J. A. Hornaday Jr.; and W, G. Mebane. The finance committee is composed of A. F. Doane. J. H. Dill and W. P- Smith. New Pullman Service Travelling Passenger Agent R. H. Hamilton of 'the Southern Railway was here last week in the interest of his company. The Southern has arranged to put on a sleeping car service between Goldsboroand Asheville which will be quite a convenience to the people of the two sections of the State. Those present were Chairman Wallace and Com missioners Lewis, Piggott and Taylor. .. An impftant decision made by the board was that of widening the new North River bridge making it sixteen instead of ten teei wiae. Several delegations of citizens came before the board in regard to road matters. C R. Wheatly representing citizens of Stacy asked that a certain route be adopted in the eastern part the county. E.
