Time is swifts; pissing.howevfer This week the baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. Terril Scott died of whoop ing cough with other ailments. We are sorry but cannot help. Last night some folks from Beau fnrf wppp here to see us, and one man from Jones county, Mr. J. S.J Hargett, he together with Mr. L. W. j Hassell spoke in an interesting way. Our preacher, the Reverend E. B.I Bell and Earnhardt were intend-1 ing to hold a revival meeting this week but for the dangers of the whooping cough I guess it will be postponed. - The northeaster this week has caused lots of damage to the mack erel fishermen and ran some big steam ships and tugs with tows in the hook. Well after all I am glad to state in these little items tha(t Harkers Island is at last moving the rounds of its ladder higher up. Gradually but surely it is on the list of eleva tions. The road man is doing his now and we will do ours. Harkers Island with a population of about 1200 should not and shall not be overlooked by our county. These people are good people (as a rule) and they must have their dues. ' Well I guess the whooping cough and mumps have not played their part well enough among the chil dren here and to put a final touch on them the measles has come. I hope the doctor will find out for sure' so it can be stopped before flooding the ( island as the whooping cougn nas. Sunday I had the pleasure of an introduction to Mr. J. N. O'Neil ac companied by Mr. Luther Yoeman3, Mr. Dannie Willis, Mr. Fred Lewsi and Mr. Clayton Guthrie and son, a few words being passed and we were invited and taken by Mr. O'Neil into and all through his beau tiful house and its surroundings. It is being built by Mr. Willie Nelson of this place. He intends to have it tipify as nearly as possible a modern cottage of the bungalow type. We like him and respect him as one of Harker's Island high bred citizens. I see that Mr. Chas. S. Davis and Mr. Cleveland Davis have their oil wells down and all arrangements made for getting gasoline. Friday while riding and maneu verinc around in their new car Mr. i and Mrs. Telford Willis ran into an L- ami did some damage to the car and some to the oak, but no one on I hoard was hurt. The pastor here the Kev. Mr. Earn hardt has the pleasure of being with his mother this week. She is here visiting the island and preaching. The whole family of the Earnhardts are preachers. Mrs. Earnhardt can preach with such force that causes one to feel hot flashes go up and down one back. We are glad to have her with us. Saturday night while two boys were talking close by the store of Cleveland Davis a coco cola bottle came from the East as from the muzzle of a gun. and struck the store close by the boys. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Guthrie and little Junior were welcomed visitors here Sunday. Our lodge meeting we omitted last night because of speaking and preach ing. Everything seems to happen all at the same time. The lodge here on the island is going to be ahead of any other. Look out it is going at a good rate. Stop! Look! Listen! and read the JBeaufort News.
