The man on the bottom is is John W. Rogers, retired U. S. mailman of New York City who ha3 lived i n Beaufort for the past four years at the cor ner of Queen and Ann streets. Until he recently suffered a stroke of paralysis, Mr. Rogers was a fa miliar figure on the streets of Beaufort and hereabouts rid ing a bicycle. But the photograph: It was made in 1904 when Mr. Rogers was phys ical education direc tor of the Seattle (Wash.) Athle t i c club. Carraway, son of Mr. and Mrs., Guy M. Carraway of Merrimon, who entered the United States Marine Corps last November, has completed the basic training course at the Ma rine Barracks, Parri3 Island, S. C, and has been transferred to the Sea School, Norfolk, Va., according to an an announcement by Captain A. C. Small, District Marine Corps Recruit ing Officer, with headquarters at Sa vannah, Ga.
