Martin- and daughter, Catherine, Vance Carraway, Jr., and brother Billie left for Norfolk Sunday morning. Mrs. Martin has gone to see her husband who is a patient at Marine Hospital. Mr and Mrs. Thurman Pittman and children, Bettie Lou and Mur Ty, spent the weekend at White Oak. Mrs. Eric Shepherd and little daughter, Joyce Ann, left for their home in Durham Sunday after spending last week with her par ents, her mother, Mrs. W. B. Mar tin accompanying them home. Mr. J. M. Stallings returned home Monday after a few day's visit with his sister, Mrs. Anna Thomason at Whiteville. Mr. E. L. Nelson left for Golds boro Sunday afternoon to visit his son, L. A. Nelson. Mr ntiH Mrs. Bill Campton who liave been visiting her grandfath er, Rev. J. M. Carraway, returned to their home in Graham Sunday afternoon. They were accompan ied by Rev. Carraway who will al so visit his daughter, Mrs. B. M. Rodgers. Dr. Hyall, of Kinston, was in the neighborhood on Sunday. Mrs. Donald Reel and son, Wil liam returned to her home in Bridgeton Sunday after spending some time here. Messrs. H. B. Salter and George Martin motored to New Bern on Monday. CORE CREEK Mr. J. H. Dickinson returned home Saturday after spending sev eral days in Clinton with his daughter, Mrs. Ennis Bass. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Foreman , and two children of Mobile, Ala., spent the weekend with his uncle Mr. A. W. Foreman. Mr. Reyman Davis of New Bern was the guest of Miss Irene Sabis ton Sunday. Mr. J. H. Dickinson spent bun- day in Wilmington. Mr. and Krs. David Weeks and children, liert and Grace, of Clin, ton, spent several days with Mrs. Weeks' roster, Mis. J. G. Dickin son. Mrs. Harve yllardy and chil dren, Harvey Jr., and Ann, of La Grange spent several days with Mrs. Hardy's sister, Mrs. North Sabiston. Mr. and Mrs. North Sabiston, Mrs. Jeff Sabiston spent Monday in Wilmington. BETTIE Rev. F. L. Israel of Marshallberg filled his regular appointment at the Woodville Baptist church Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Keller and daughter, Janice, and Mrs. Kel ler's brother, Bondell Gillikin have returned from their vacation in New Jersey and Canada. Miss Agatha Golden of E. C. T. C., Greenville, is spending her va cation here with her mother, Mrs. Mvrtlp Golden. She has been at tending Summer School there and will return there again in September. Miss Esther Dickinson of Core Creek attended the Baptist Young People's Union here Sunday night, as the guest of Mr. Brondell (jilli- kin. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Pake of Bel., grade, N. C, spent the weekend here with friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morris and children of Atlantic are visiting Mrs. Morris' relatives here. Mrs. Minnie Gillikin, Mrs. Mat tie Pake and Mrs. Hilda Keller were visitors in Beaufort Sunday afternoon. Mrs. F. L. Israel of Marshall burg and her Sunbeam Band met with the children here at the Woodville Baptist church Friday. HARLOWE Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Taylor and daughter, Frances, left Fri dayy to visit relatives at Mebane, Durham, and Danville, Va. Mrs. Johnnie Ward and Mrs. Roland Farmer, of Snow Hill, vis ited Mrs. Rufus Ward aSturday. Mrs. Luther Hamilton and chil dren, Rebecca and Luther, Jr., and Jesse Staton, of Morehead City, passed through Friday enroute to Raleigh. They were joined here by Edna Taylor. Miss Mary Frances Morton and her guest, Miss Bettie Ruth Hossey of Beaufort spent Thursday morn ing in New Bern. ) Msis Marguerite tfecton, who spent last week at Snow Hill, re turned home Saturday. J., are visiting Mrs. Mollie Taylor and other relatives. Mrs. Joel Davis motored to Manteo during the week-end to see the "Lost Colony." Mrs. B. L. Witherington and children of Vanceboro, are visit ing Mrs. W. C. Wliliams. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Small, Mr. and Mrs. Jurney Conner, Mr. and Mrs. Will Conner, Elsie Fodrie, and Reoulah Street spent Saturday in New Bern. Miss Blanch Bell, who is work ing in Morehead City, spent Sun day with her parnets. Mrs. Vera Bell and daughter, Yvonne, visited Mrs. G. M. Sabis ton at Core Creek Sunday evening. Mrs. Pearl Olund, Philip Taylor and Johnnie Olund motored to Burlington and Greensboro Sun day. Johnnie returned to Miss issippi from Gi'eensboro. Mrs. Emma Oglesby was ir. Morehead City Saturday on busi ness. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Morton, Douglas Williams and Jim Ward spent Saturday morning in New Bern.. Mr. and Mrs. Greshman Masor and son spent Sunday with rela tives at Bettie. Miss Bettie Ruth Hussey of Beaufort, who has been visiting Mary Frances Morton, returned home Saturday. She was accom panied by Mary Frances who spent Sunday with her. The Young Peoples Service Lea gue met with Florence Conner Fri day evening and enjoyed an ice cream supper. Miss Mildred Taylor will enter tain members of the Service Lea gue Friday evening. Mrs. G. M. Freeman of Greens boro, Mrs. Clara M. Lupton, and Dave W. Morton of Raleigh re turned home Saturday after visit ing their brother, C. H. Morton. DAVIS Miss Grace Ennis of Goldsboro is spending a week with Mrs. Myr tle Davis. Mr. Clifford Willis, of Norfolk, spent the weekend with his family. Mr. Leoland Davis, of Goldsboro spent the weekend with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Davis, Sr. Miss Lessie Mae Styron returm ed home Sunday from Washing ton, D. C, where she spent tha past month visiting relatives. Mr. Charles Ennis of Goldsborc is visiting Mr. Quinton Willis this week. Miss Iva Davis of Washington, D. C, is spending this week with her mother, Mrs. Lola Davis. C. are visiting his daughter, Mrs. Paul Davis, for a week. Mrs. Richard Lewis and children of Norfolk are visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Justin Willis, Sr. Mr. Elmo Murphy who is em ployed in Pasagoula, Miss., is visit ing his parents for a week. WILLISTON Orthopaedic Clinic To Be Held In Greenville Friday, September 5 We wish to remind our reader of the State Orthopaedic Clinic to be held in Greenville Friday, Sept. 5, from 12:30 to 4 p. m. The Clinic takes all types of cripples, both white and colored, free of charge who are unable to afford private treatments. It is de sired, though not required, that patients be referred by a physician or the Welfare Officer, and that the patient bring such note to the Clinic. The Clinic is set up to serve es pecially the Counties of Beaufort, Carteret, Pamlico, Pitt and Tyrell, though patients from other Coun ties who desire to come may do so. The Clinic is conducted by Dr. Hugh A. Thompson, orthopaedist, Raleligh, N. C. This Clinic has been runnintr for something over three years and is now serving a large number of cripples, adults as well as children, in this area. Miss Doris Lynch has returned home after spending a while at Marshallburg. Mr. Ira D. Gillikin is spending his vacation with relatives at Nor folk, Va. Mr. John Willis and Mr. Howard Fulcher were home from Florida for the weekend. Bluefish are being caught off the North Carolina coast in the greatest numbers in five years. Catches ra n g i n g around two pounds each are being reported with regularity off Cape Lookout. Cape Fear and Cape Hatteras and in the Beaufort Inlet vicinity. Bob Wilson of Washington, D. C. boat ed 22 and reported he lost as many during a day's fishing at Southport recently, and Capt. Frank' Brown, fishing from the yacht Althea B off Wrightsville reported 15 blues and 200 mackerel in a day's catch. All boats fishing in the Inlets have been taking large numbers of Blues. Drake of Kenansville, president, assembled at Morehead Villa Hotel today for a late sum mer outing. The meeting is being held under the auspices of the Pitt County Health Department. At 5 o'clock this afternoon the group will visit the U. S. Marine Laboratory in' Beaufort to see the "wonders of the sea in the aquar ium and museum. Also included on the program will be tours of old Beaufort, old Fort Macon and bathing in the surf. At 7:30 o'clock tonight Dr. G. M.
