Carrigan and Miss Mary Bradshaw, Greensboro, were guests at the home of Mr. and M rs. B. P. Robertson Friday night and Saturday. Miss Kate Lee Banks, who has been teaching at Wilson’s Mills, N. C., has resigned her position and will spend the rest of the winter wHh her sister, Mrs. W. H. Ander son. Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Robertson her fathers I B. Summers. Miss Blanch Gerringer of EIod No 1, visited Mrs. Apple , during Xmas. Mi.so Sallie Phibbs who has bKn attending school at Whitsett spent the holidays with her parents. John Lynch who is a student of Chapel Hill visited his pareuts Christmas. We wish to thank Mrs R. A. Sharp and Mrs T W. Cheek and Miss Willie Summers for nice cake during Christmas. We wish every day would be like holidays. We found something nice in almost every box and when it was’nt mail it was Quail this suited us for we knew it did’nt require a stamp. Miss Clauaia McCullers, who has been visiting her cousin, W. H. Anderson, returned to Washington, N. C., last Thursday. Dr. L. D. McPherson has gone to Baltimore for a few days on a pleasure trip. Christmas passed off quieily. The Sunday school made a succes swith their entertainment and giving treats to the children. Several of the teachers took their baskets with many good things Christmas day and gave to the older people who could uot attend Sunday school. Rcv. D. W. Annette filled his appointment at the Baptist church Sunday to the delight of his people. The church has moved up to two Sundays a month the first and third and service Tuesday • night and business meeting Saturday night be fore the third Sunday in each month. Everybody invited. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Porterfield have the sympathy of their mnny friends the death angel poised his wings over their home and took their only infant child nnto him who said “suffer little children to come unto Me.” Our rural carrier has bought himself a regular carriei^’s wagon to deliver the mail from. We think he will launch out into the field of married life soon. Rev. N. M. Modlin’s family, of Morganton spent Cliristmas with the family of E, M. Coble. They were welcome guest, having been residents of Haw River in former years. We regret that Mrs. G. W. P. Cates is sick with la grippe, but we hope Dr. John will soon have her up again. Mrs. H. H. S mpson has been confined to h^ r room for oome time. Her many friends will be glad to learn that she is much impioved. Rev. W. C. Elders Miss Bulla who taught before Xmas resigned to take up other work. Earnest Cheek of Stainback who spent his holidays at home returned to Stainback Sunday. We had the pleasure of taking; big dinners with Mrs J. ALov ami D. M.
