Caldwell will be deeply concerned to learn that the veteran editor has been grow ing weaker during the past few days and that his condition is now regarded as serious, if not critical. He did not rest well last night and seemed slightly weaker this morning, according to news from his bedside, but his mind remains clear, active and coherent.
