C., says; “I think just as highly of Doan's Kidney Pills now as I did sori^e years ago, when L gave a public statement, recommending them. I have had little or no kidney trouble since that time. For quite awhile I suffered from pains in the small of my back and I was annoyed by irregul^ passages of the kidney secre tions. Sometimes I was confined to my bed and I knew thatT was gradually growing weaker. Hear ing of the benefit other people had obtained from Doan’s Kid ney Pills, I got a box of this rem edy and began its use. J., Zeb Waller, Post Master. meat consumed by our people. “Now that meats derived from diseased animals cannot be ship ped interstate, the live-stock dealer will ship his diseased ani mals to our state on the hoof.” Therein lies the danger. The lo cal butcher perhaps does not know the animal is diseased; it is slaughtered under unsanitary conditions, and perhaps left un covered to dust and flies. We buy, eat of. it in its almost raw state, as in rare steak which is the most nourishing of diets pro vided the meat is free from di sease, never stopping to thiuk that we marl)e taking the germs of tuberculosis or other diseases into our systems. To prevent this, some form of inspection or supervision should be adopted and a trained man glaeed in charge of the work. As with meat so it is with milk. Milk is the commonest raw food consumed and is more often the means of transmission of diseases than all other raw foods combin ed. In many instances epidenics of Typhoid fever, Scarlet fever. Diphtheria and of many other diseases have been directly trac ed to the mill* supply. Often Tuberculosis is contract ed in this way. It is stated by authorities that five per cent of the cow« examin ed in various parts of North Car olina are tuberculous. “The d^th rate of children under two years of age in the United States is 80,000 a year, due mjunly to impure milk. A lady 'once went to the noted Dr. .Osier, bemoaning her fate and telling him that God had tkk eh her child from her, to which the Dr. promply repTli|d~ ‘ a^, do not blame Godrwith your misfortune, it was bad milk that killed your Irnby*” Sin^ ifrilk Is the one universal food and the adult is often times; dependent upori itftMT nourishment as well ad the infant, it is essential that only pure milk be consumed. When as much is at stake, it is only just to our people that we have a graduate veterii'foian or a graduate of medicine to look af ter the milk supply. This the 13th day of Nov, 1911, B. M.
