ADVERTISING The writer of the Oakdale Dote a few weeks the nail squarely on the'IfeaaiJand spoke & sentiments^ live-out- of-tovm’^ 'Sioiple the ro^ question, are,,it>^^ only rernepiber^d at office tax paying times, ^^n^ 'ipdeed that we are neyer iprgotten at those times but it is 4 fact that we never, are. j^^djyet we have been piiying oul* taxes as freely we are sure as our i^roth- ers who have b^en re^^eiviirag something in return. , Otfr rc^s here in South Alamance show but little in return for all road money we h^ye p^id. ; Thi^ehas been some work done ^ them yes but not enough. One road I have in mindltlftat has been sadly neglected and one that c^ld be made one of the best dirt roads with but a little care and atten tion, the old Salisbury road begin ning at W. D. Adams on by W. B. Daffron’s and Oakdale Graded school to N, A Kime’s Store. This road as a prominent business man remarked has had as little work done on it as any and yet is better than many that have \got their share. Because much of the road is good naturally why jump the bad part of it why not make it good all along siiice it would take but little time and attention to fix it properly once and once fixed would not be expensive to keep in good condition. There are places on this road and sever al others that I know of that the side ditch is in the middle of the road, places where there is not room for one vehicle to pass an other, and tree-tops meeting ov er-head so it is almost innirossible to pass along with a load oi 'Cot ton hay etc. Now we did not just pay a part of our road tax money but all of it ? And we hear there is some being demanded again this year. What are you going to to do with it we would like to know where it is going before we pay. Put it around town also ? We do not deny but that the roads are good- fine in and around town but since we happen to live in the country, we are benefited but little for their being good there since we have to wear our vehic les team and selves out upon the roads around in the country try ing to get something to carry to town to get enough money to pay our road tax with. It always tak es about all we can get our hands bn for that so we iiave little left for dUr owi?. selvsis ^ut there is j no doubt but that we can ride when we gtt in sight of town and,yes until we get out of sight and then “We have to walk the rest of the way home tolkeep from being launched into a mud-hole but we finally home, tired but happy in the thought.that by tak ing enough such trips we will ac cumulate enough funds to procure a road-tax receipt and we are very thankful indeed that we did not have to walk all the way. Now there is no justice none at all in the division of the road mo ney, if our roads cannot receive the proper work and attention, don’t ask us for tax for somebody else to enjoy. Give it to em Oak dale brother, again. Ruby Everon. The Burlington Township Sun day School Association wll con vene in the Christiatt Church, Biirlibgton, N.
