Neglected Tfieth And The Result. Neglected and badly decayed teeth not only tear up your rer- vous system, when they acne from exposed nerves. They also rob you of sleep which is - neces sary if you would continue the proper attention to your business and retain your health. _ Teeth should not be permitted to gep in this condition. They should by ail means' be filled while the caviti/es are small. Then the teeth are saved, besid es, the time the pain, and the expense is all less than it would be later. But suppose you have neglected your teeth and you have one badly decayed and.ache- ing from a live, exposed, nerve. If this tooth is not treated ,and filled,' or extracted, the ^ve will soon become congested'^nd die. The pain will cease and^you will think your trouble overf;. but you are badly mistaken. , ,You are just getting ready for artoth- er and a worse siege than when the tooth ached before. (There are a few lucky exceptions ^ to this rule.) The nerve that has died is putrefying. The putre factive germs set up inflamation at the end of the root where the dead nerve comes in contact with the peridental membrane. The IFrwBt Stre«^ M. £.. Chtsth, SontL Rev. T.. A. Business meeting, first Wed- oesday evening of the month at 8:15 p. m. Sunday School 9:30 m. J. L. Scott. Supt. J DCL — tooth gets sore to the touch^,.4,, It is raised slightly in the socket. Pressure now causes considerable pain. The pain is at first dull, but steady. After about twenty four hours the pain becomes an intense throbbing nature. The gum around the tooth gets red and swollen, and is extremely sensative, To extract a tooth while in this condition would be much more painful than it would be when the tooth and surround ing gum tissues are not sore; al though there are patients who insist on having the offending member removed without delay. In many instances if the tooth is to be extnicted it is postponed until the corruption which is forming about the root works it self near enough the service that it may be gotten rid of by lanc ing the gum. This will allow it to drain. The swelling will go doWn, and within a week or ten days the soreness will be out en ough that the tooth may be re moved. Now can you calculate? Can you understand what the word N-E-G-L-E-C-T-E-D means for the future? Think it out for your self. Your teeth which are strong guardians of your life and health are on trial by the danger ous agents that pr^uce decay. You are both their' judge and jury and your decision will eith er save or condemn them. I’m talking to you if you have a d^ cayed tooth, or have a child with defective teeth. Here is the proposition. Do you think you can afford to neglect that caviiy in your tooth. Suffer days or weeks pain while the nerye is acheing and dying? Suffer sev eral days and nights from agoniz* ing pain when the nerve putrifies and the tooth abscesses? Spend two or three times as much on medicine treatments, and finally having the tooth extracted as it would have cost to have had it filled when the cavity was small? The pain, the nervous strain and the corruption and filth that you have swallowed from the decayed tooth and deseased gum has un- dermineded your health to such an extent that other dangerous diseases may easily attaet you oh account of a weak broken down system and lost vital resistance. Your very life is endangered, i Besides all of the above, you have carried on to such an extent on account of the pain that you have been an annoyance to those who live with you, and all who come in contact with you. You have lost the tooth and the use of the one opposite it. I say, can you afford this? J. S. Frost. Baptist Presbyterian (?lms^n M. E. German Ref. Webb Ave. M. E.
