What about that, Mr. Southerner. Can the Republicans of Ala mance County afford to repudi ate their national administration. Better count the cost, and look at your position before the politi cal world before taking the fatal step. This is only a warning, not made to try to ir.fluence your actions. Count the cost, figure the profit, see that you are right, then go ahead, i? the Davie Crocket motto. Press Favors Taft. The following is a report igiven by The New York Evening Post show’ing how a number of the small Republican newspapers stand as to Taft and Roosevelt: Taft. Roosevelt. New York, 16 2 Indiana, 16 3 Wtfaed Agaia. We again warn our Republican friends, that instead of wrangl ing about who shall be the Re publican nominee for President, you had better qualify yourself to vote. Those of you who arte talking the loudest, about what you will do, and what you won’t do, and predicting all sorts of dire calamaties unless the man you want is nominated, will be the ones who cannot vote even should you get your man nomi nated. It is less now than thir ty days in which to pay your poll tape, so that you can vote, and what will it profit you to get your man, and then cannot help him with your ballot. Stop your bickerings and get Dusy. There is something just as important to you as to who shall receive the nomination for President, and that is who shall adminiister your county and state affairs here at home. If >ou fall by the wayside and fail to qualify youi- sc'lf by paying your tax, you can not blame any one but yourself. See your neighbor, and ask him to pay his poll tax. After this is done you can have it out as to who shall be the Republican nominee for President. has recently changed and is now j principle^ Thfe is a political ye»« getting out this newsy sheet! We fere proud to have such an excellent daily 80 n«u*. Seven Day Paper The Greensboro Daily News Are There Other* Every once and a while, some of our subscribers take offense at some article appesmng in the columns of The Dispatch, iUng us up and requ^t us to stop their paper when the time 19 out. They seem to think that we are ronH” ing a news paper for their. espe cial benefit, and that we must not print anything except what plea»> es them. Some take exceptions at our political news, others be cause we fail to learn of their visits to their friendly or their friends visits to them, and be cause wt^ t’ilii to make mention of it they miff^ so to speak and try to get even by stopping their paper. We are running a news paper to give the news, especial ly the political news. Tlie State Dispatch is a political news paper republican to the mannjer born. This is known or should be to all our sutecribers, and if you have subscribed for the paper not know ing this and our politics are ob jectionable to you, if you will kindly call us up, and if you can not call us up, please write us or send us word by some friend to stop your paper, while we will regret to lose you, and your sup port, yet we will cladly stop your paper, not that we do not need the money oh don’t think that we have not made a fortune running a news paper, and we need every cent that our patrons pay us. But we iieed our independence more, and rather than surrender our principles and indapendence,' let us die for the want of patron age rather than for the want of let them request that their paper stop at its expiration, so that we may knOw whether there are enough broad and liberal minded ^ople in this country, to justify us to continue in the news paper business, if not, we w01 get out and try to dispose of our junk to some one who cares not for prin ciple, so long as they rake- in the shekels, and who are vdlling^ to print all the dH>e that they tlumk will interest th« ear of their poor deluded readers. If. there are others now ra the time to speak out, if we receive no notice t®» discontinue, we will take it for granted that you are satisfied; with the policy and high standard practiced by this paper, and we will continue to give you the news regardless of the (pinion express ed by our critits. Who will be the firist to tell us we are persona nongrata, and to stop their paper. A Roosevek Gab. A strong Roosevelt Club was organized here last Friday night. Mr. James N. Will'amson, Jr. is President, and W. W. Brown Secretary. Another meeting was held Saturday night and quite a number enrolled as mem bers. They are going to meet a- gain this week, on Wednesday and Saturday nights for the pur pose coosidering who shall go to the couaty convention as Roose velt delegates. The Roosevelt followers seem to have a little the best of the Taft, or adminis^ tration people, and it looks now as if the Progressives will con trol the delegate*^ to the conven tion. But the stand patters or administration people are not making much noise and may be heard from, later. Anyway it is a'pretty fight for position and will be watched with interest by all concerned.
