Our Tomato Club girls canned 664 cans Monday. Quite a ntimber of our young f«ople attended a party given at Mr. Cullers of Rock Creek Satur day night. Miss Lora Isley won first prize in the play. Miss Eula Albright Is visiting Verona Isley this week. Arlendo Garrett of Greensboro is visiting relatives around Friendship this week. No. r and No. 10 picnic will be heldat D. M. Elders Saturday, Aug. 24th. Patrons of other routes are invited to be present and enjoy the day with us. The county force have begun grading the road from Alamance to Oak Grove which will be maca damized at once. R. i. U. No. S. Mrs. J. S. Carroll of Raleigh is visiting at J. M. Story’s. Since our last writing we have received lots of nice fruit and vegetables and we hereby thank all those who so kindly remem bered us. J, H. Saunders and Mrs. J. S. Saunders visited at W, R, Saun ders Saturday and Sunday. Miss Bertha Huffman of No. 2: spent last Wednesday night with Miss BerthaSaunders. Miss Grace Somers spent Sat urday night and Sunday visiting Miss Margaret Hayes. Miss Mary Hayes spent Satur day night and Sunday with Miss Ethel Somers, arid attended church at Stony Creek Sundav afternoon. ■ We were glad to see Walter Brannock of the Railway Mail service, former carrier on No . 2 attended at our picnic last Satur day., Walter is looking well. John Cook attended our picnic and amused the crowd some. He complained of headache wheji he came, but we think that it was not, headache 'whe« he left. E. S. W. Dameron was also there and told a few, also Mr. John Lashly. Glad to have these folks out. Editor R. M. Andrews and Rev. A. F. Isley also made inter esting talks. A nice time and I think it was enjoyed by all. We thank Mr. E. K. Isley for the use of his line grove, J. F. Barker for a nice ball ground and we thank a]l those who helped to fix table, grounds etc. Protracted meeting is going on at Stony Creek this week. There was protracted meeting at Bethel last week. They had a good time, several professions. W. A. Lewis has been sick for several days. Gue;ss thats the reason that they did not go to our picnic Saturday.
