Mr, J. H. Hoffman Superinten dent of the Reformed Sunday- School gave an entertainment at his home on Front Street in honor of members of the Sunday Schoo* who made an average attendance of 90 per cent during the past three months, and to a few invit ed friends. The occuasion was very much enjoyed everybody having a good time. Delicious refreshments were served by Mips Grace Hoffman assisted by Miss Swannie Horhaday. The cpowd dispersed remembering Mr. Hoffman very tenderly for having first remembered them. Railroad Company Held in.tbe City of Greens^ boro on Sept. 10th. The President stated to the Hoard that some apprehension had arisen in the towns of Bu - lingtoh and Graham to the effect that if the subscription in the Burlington and Graham Town ships were voted on ^^vo^abl> the locations of the road might subsequently be changed to the disadvantage or inconvenience of these two towns, and that he had on the day before, had a meeting of a committee of citi zens of the two towns for the purpose of giving them assur ance to which he felt they were entitled in the matter, and on motion duly seconded it resolved, that, it is the full purpose of the company, if the subscriptions in the Burlington and Graham. Towr''"hiTis are voted upon fav orably , ^itly locate its line approximately along one of its present surveys, and that the company would in no event avail of these subscriptions unless this line is located and constructed so! as to afford station accommoda tions within the corporate limits of Burlington and within the corporate limits of Graham. In the case of Burlington, not to be in any event farther than three- fourth? of a mile from the bank ing house of the Alamance Loan & Trust Co., and in the case of Graham, not to be farther in any event, than one-half mile from the Court House, and each case as much nearer to the point nam ed as might be found to be pract icable in the construction and location of the road. We judge by Senator Borah’s remarks that he considers mooseism about as necessary as a fur overcoat on the fourth of July. .
