The movement to have the genera! assembly pass a law tax ing dogs of Alamunee County for the benefit oT the schools of the county is a most excellent mov^e- ment. Petitions are now being circulated asking for a lav/ fixing the dog tax at one dollar per head. This would mean a large increase in the school fund and perhaps would decrease the mem ber of dogs in the county. Four or five g0( d hens we 1 cured tor instead of that worthless dog would add a great deal to the finances of this county. Any man who is interested in this movement and would like to sign a petion for the law^ can have his name enrolled by writing to D. 'M. Elder, Burlington, N. C. R. F. D. No. 1. Yours for the betterment of Alamance County, J. D. Andrew. ur- To the Water Consumers of lingtan This is to notify you that our water is getting low, and unless you economize, we will have to cut off the w^ater and only furnish it at certain hours. During the month of Januaf’y we sold 500,- 000 gallons more than during the previous month, and besides Bellevue Cotton Mills is running night and, therefore, we do not get much water from this well. We are of the opinion that if the water consumers of the city will cooperate with u's, we will be able to furnish water‘'T all hours. Respect fuliy, Water Light and Power Commis sion, W. W.
