Raise More Cattle. Atlanta, Ga., Sept. 14. —If the Southeast is to become thei^real cattle growing section that it should in view of its natural ad vantages and the present and growiiig demand for cattle with commensurate prices, farmers mu.st quit selHng their female and immature stock, declares Dr. C. M. Morgan, dairy agent of the Southern Railway, who sounds a warning against a con tinuation of the wholesome de portation of cattb from tie JSouth. “Farmers should keep thtir htiferand build up the quality of their stock bj the use of pure bred bulls of dairy of beef t\ pe as desirablie," says Dr, Morg&n. “This is the only way to increese the number or the quality of cattle in the Southeast. 'Jhe scarcity of cattle is worldw de and it will never be possible to secure enough pur-ebred ca tie to develop the industry in the Southeast. “Farmers who sell calves are simply giving the dealer a i cod part of the profit they sh- uld have themselves. If calves v ere fattened on the farm, using cot ton «eed meal as a concentj ate, a higher price per pound v ould be received and the farmer v ould not only profit by this and the additional weight but v ould have in the manure 85 per cent of the fertilizing value of the cotton seed meal. “With the good grazing furnished by Bermuda^rafs and Burr clover and the a bur dance of forage crops that yield I ounti- fully in the Southeast, this sec tion should be the great tource of the country’s beef and dairy products supply. The dairy di vision of the Southern jRailway will send a man to help build a dipping vat or silo and to co-op- i erate with persons in the dairy business or desiring to enter it. The U. S. Department of Agri culture has offered to co-operate with farmers who have ei adicat- ed ticks and will send an expert io aid farmers in choosing de sirable bulls of either dairy or beef type.” To Prevent Blood Poisoning apply at once the wonderful old reliable HR.
