Look ‘^Sho//y’' and for
few months sound
pretty well—then your
exp^n.>e begins and the
Piano Tuners- have to
call very often.
It has f'ome at last!
'We knew it was about due,
for the n^xt esmpaign is a scant
year away, ana it is time for the
legions to rise and arm the>msel-
ves for the combat. Therefore
we are not surprised that one of
our political bards, the trumpe
ters cf the battle of ballots, Tast
week set his buglehorn to his
lips and blew a mighty blast,
whose echoes we are confident
will ring from the eioud-capped
J peaks of Murphy to the white-
caps of far Manteo, from this
earthly paradise that men call
Greensboro to that other place
that they dare not describe, but
simply name Charlotte.
^ Reveille has sounded. Now
listen for -the answering" notes
from tvery eminence where
some musician^ of the various
corps may haYSiWaiting for its
ringing cnalleilge;-
It was froh%; the tent of Broth
er Howard Bariks that ...the call
came. True that hero no-'longer
lies within, but his bugj^e W -still
on the job. Like the modest in,-
spiriter of the fighters thathe.i^r
he forbore to give name or ad
dress, but piiinged into the heart
of the call at once. Hear ye him:
Where, where will William Bryan
be •
WVien Woodrow’s term shall end?
We will wait and watch and see,
Great things on him depend.
He’ll lecture on the goverment,
His salary to supplement,
Then he’ll cross-purpose Wilson’s
plan
Before the term shall end
Where'll be the dear old solid
South,
When Woodrow’s-term expires?
Consumed and eat by its own
mouth
And its internal fires.
But we will have the Hupmobile,
Basebay and moving picture reel.
The laymen’s movement will
reveal
Ail things. By by! this is my
spiel
When Woodrow's term shall end.
