Palmer, Coni mission Merchant, Fruits and Pro duce, 166 Read street, New York. April 12th, 1890. The week cloe with an active business in all lines )f produce, and at very firm prices md with "a favorable outlook for the immediate future on all vegetables that are to come forward of whatever nature. The recentscant supply and the lateness of the season, give it a pecial healthy tone to the market on all early vegetables. The supply jf the old cabbage crop is exhausted, md for that reason the demand is large for new and prices have further idvanced, choice South Carolina sell ing at 3 to $3.50; and fair stock $2 to $2.50. Asparagus is sellingat extreme prices, colossal up to $10 to $12 per lozen; prime South Carolina and Xorth Carolina $1 to $6; culls $2 to 3. A few Charleston peas have ar rived and sold at $. Receipts of strawberries have not been sufficient to meet the demauds,and fancy North Carolina and South Carolina selling it 76 cents to $1 ; Florida 50 to 75 ents. An increase is expected next week and prices will rule low. Re ceipts of eggs have been excessive, aggregating 30,000 barrels and selling it 12 cents.
