Pearsall, private secre tary to Governor Aycock returned from the west yesterday. Governor Aycock remained in the mountains and is not expected back before about the first of September. He may go al most to the Tennessee line in Chero kee county this week. Rev. Dr. John C. Kilgo preached lere sunuay morning ana evening- 111 tne Jiiaenion suetT iueinuamL church to large congregations. In the morning his text was the first three verses of 10th Chapt. of John and he argued that Christianity is the only universal religion the world has had. He combatted ths ideas that the world could ever outgrow Christianity, that Christ was before the beginning, that he is truth and truth will advance hrough all eternity. Attorney General and Mrs. R. D. Gilmer returned to Raleigh last" even ing from Waynesville where they have been spending the summer, at' their home. Last week Gov. Aycock and Col. Pearsall were the guests of Gen. and Mrs. Gilmer. Judge E. W. Timberlake was here yesterday on his way toNarnett coun ty, where he will hold court this week. Rev. Jno E. BRAIN-FOOD NONSENSE. Another ridiculous food has been branded by the most competent au thorities. They have dispelled the silly notion that one kind of food is needed for brain, another for mus cles, and still another for bones. A correct diet will not only nourish a particular part of the body, but it will sustain every other part, et, however good your food may be, its nutriment is destroyed by indigestion or dys pepsia. You must prepare for their ap pearance or prevent their coming by taking regular doses of Green's Aul gust Flower, the favorite medicine ot the healthy millions. A few doses aids digestion, stimulates the liver to healthy action, purifies the blood, and makes you feel buoyant and vigorous. You can get this reliable remedy at Fitzsimohs Drug Co.'s. 1 J. M. Unionville, Aug. 26 During the past few days the roads leading irom tne public roads out to the village have re ceived a much needed working. Mr. Tip Helms is making extensive improvements to his dwelling, by the addition of a double front portico, and also a second story to the dining room and kitchen. On last Friday night the Hesperian Literary Society, of the Institute, se lected the following speakers ' for the mid-term public debate: Messrs. Ed. Guin, A. M. Secrest, Bascom Presson, and Van M. Long, of Union county; I. A. Yow, of Stanley, and T. E. Meas- amer, of Cabarrus. Steps were also taken to establish a reading room in connection with the Society. , The institute is in the most flourish ing condition it has been in for several years. Crops in this immediate community have suffered less from the drouth than in adjoining sections. Messrs. Walter and Swindell Love and their sister, Miss Minnie, of the family of Mr. T. L. Love, who have been teaching, closed their schools last Friday. They are excellent teachers, and Unionville is proud of them. Mr. Walter will enter the University of North Carolina in September. According to the Raleigh News and Observer, Union Institute was the first rural school in North Carolina to ex tend her public school term, by private subscription, from four to nine months. The county teachers' institute will be held in Monroe this week. W. T. ALBRIGHT. CASTOR I A For Infants and Children.
