No invitations have been issued but all members of both classes are expected to be present. : The annual reception at the Presby terian College to the Davidson College students, faculty and trustees tonight will be a brilliant one. The rooms in which the young ladies will receive their visitors are beautiful ly decorated. Quite an array of the col lege banners of different institutions North and South 'decorate the wailj of the dining rooms. Refreshments will be served the young men in the dining rooms at the. small tables which are daintily arranged for the occasion.' The custom of having this annual re ception to the students of the neighbor ing college is a pleasing one, and, as "the proof of the pudding is the eating thereof," it is enough to say that the young men will appreciate it since a large number of them have already arrived. Crowley, manager of the Crowley Mills and daughter, Miss Mary F. Crowley, leave tonight for a vlsitf to Philadelphia, their old home. Capt. Crowley will remain, about ten days and his daughter for a longer period. Mr. C. E. Worthan, special agent of the Liverpool and London and Giobe Insurance Co., is in town. Mr. and Mrs. Jno. W. Allison, of Concord, passed through last night en xoiite to New Orleans to attend Mardi Gras.- Mrs. M. E. Johnson, of South Caro lina, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. J. G. Baird on South Tryon street. Mi'. C. L. Spencer is visiting his family in Newbern, N. C. Mis. M. E. Light, wife of the. leader of the Christian Crusaders, who have been in our midst ever three months has arrived in the city from Eufola, Fla., and will spend some time here. Mr. C. N. G. Butt and daughter, Mrs. Laurence B. Johnson leave tomorrow morning for a trip to Savannah, Fa. Mr. J. 0. Bradshaw.-of Raleigh, is in the city today visiting his sister-in-law, Mrs. A. C. Porter in Dilworth. Mr. Clarence Stockdell, of Atlanta, Ga., special agent of the Phoenix In surance Co. of Brooklyn, is in the city. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Carson and Mr. and Mrs. R. C: Carson have returned from a trip in Florida. s Rev. George Atkinson, of Monroe, is in the city today. Mr. E. B. Pancake left this morning for New Orleans to attend the Mardl Gras. Gibson who has been e'erking with the Burwell and Dunn Company v for a number of years has gone on the road for the company since Mr. OscanSmith, one of the com pany's traveling salesmen went to stntpsville to onen a drug store. Mr. F Cla-e Pharr with the same company may also go on the road for the house soon.
