C, Feb. 1 .The junior oratorical contest will take place next Thursday night, Friday morning and night and Saturday morning. A good many boys attended the re ception given at the Presbyterian Col lege in Charlotte last night, but mere were no sophs in the crowd, for they were all at their banquet. Miss Emma Phifer, of Concord, is visiting at the home of Mrs. John Reid. Miss Mary Morrison, of Mariposa, is visiting her father and mother, who are at the home of Dr. and Mrs., Graham. j Many a man would stop paying pre miums if he knew what his wife had decided to do with the money.
