WOMAN'S STRANGE CONDUCT Si When, a piano agent calls on you treat him with cour tesy, but don't place an or der for a piano until you have written Chas. M. Steiff, the great Southern piano manufacturer, talked with one of their salesmen or called at his Southern Wareroom: 5 W. Trade Street, CHARLOTTE, N. C. . H. WILffiOTH, Mgr. Walked Into Mr. Garrison's Residence and Made Herself at Home. A strange woman giving her name as Lily Musslewhite boldly walked upon the porch of Mr J. H. Garrison's at the corner at Palmer and South Tryon streets, last night and proceeded to make herself perfectly at home. It was just before Mr. Garrison and family retired for the night and after persistent appeals to the woman to leave Mr. Garrison was compelled to notify the police. Two officers went to the Garrison home and with much difficulty removed the woman to the police station. Later, she was allowed to spend the night at the Charlotte hotel. She skipped out early this morn ing and nothing .has been seen or heard of her since. The woman claimed that her home vas in Robinson county. She appeared to be about 30 years old and seemed to be some kind of a dope fiend. The Clerks' Vacations. postmaster Smith is today mak ing out the schedule of holidays and vacations for the clerical force at the Charlotte post office. The first va cation will begin on the 5th of the month, when the first clerk will go eff duty until the 20th of the month, fifteen entire days allowed him by Uncle Sam as his annual vacation. The postmaster will also make out a schedule of vacations for the carriers of the city mails, who will have their vacations about the same time that the clerks are off. There are twelve names on the clerks' list. For Accommodation Young Men A large number of young men are coming into Charlotte almost every day, and if parties in the city having rooms to rent, with or without table board, would leave their names at the onlce of the Young Men's Christian Association it would be of great con venience. The Young Men's Christian Association have calls every day from young men for rooms, board etc., and at times it is difficult to accomodate the large number of applicants. Pessimists and optimists are their own rewards. Increase Clerks and Carriers Pay. It was learned today that tho Char lotte post office authorities had made recommendations for an in crease in salaries of several of the men in the service here, and as these recommendations are usually made only upon the existence of the best reasons, it is presumed that a num ber of the boys at the post office will be made glad -when the department at Washington sends in its reply to the recommendations of Postmaster Smith. It is expected that the reply from Washington will come in with in two weeks time. MONTREAT THIS FINE HOTEL NOW OPEN. ROOMS WITH AND WITHOUT PRIVATE BATHS.
