Joe Turner, the Avrestler who is so
favorably known here, is exjiected to
arrive from Washington toda.v and
complete all anangements for his!
match . Wednesday night with Burt
Hudson, the gamest little fellow wjio
ever tried a toe hold. The match will
take i)lace in the .Auditorium and will
be witnessed by a crowd the like of
which has not attended any match here
this season.
People of Charlotte know Turner
and have confidence in his ability to
cope with any man his weight. They
have heard of Hudson. The march is
a handicaj) affair, Turner agreeing to
throw Hudson twice within ninety
minutes. If he turns the trick he will
have accomi)lished a feat that will
pronounce him the greatest wrestler in
tlie country at his weight. P'or Burt
Hudson (A1 Ackerman 1 is the clever
est wrestler ever to come to the
southland. He knows the game thor
oughly and is quick, active and strong.
If Hudson is in the same condition
he was two ,\ears ago—and he writes
that he is even better—it is the oi>in-
ion of this writer that he will give .Joe
I’lirner the hardest battle of his ca
reer.
At any rate the match will be the
fastest one ever sta.ged in the Queen
Cit.\. 'I'he men have long wanted to
meet each other and there is some
thing at stake on both sides.
Hudson wrestles tonight in Coium-
bia. taking on .lack Olsen. He wiil
be in Charlotte tomorrow.

MUNICIPAL.
Voters of the Second Ward are to
meet at the court house tonight to look
over aldermanic timber for the next
administration. Aldermen from Ward
2 on the board at present are W. A.
Toomey and Plummer Stewart.
]\Ir. Stewart has announced that he
is not a canddieta for re-election. For
the pros!)ective slate a choice of the
following names are proposed: Toom

son and .J, W, Lewis.

-Alderman Fore, of Ward 1 states
very emiihatically that he will not be
in the aldermanic race. “I don't know

Fishing for Easy
Marks
Many are the ways to extract money
from “easy marks." Some person has
tested the advertising of “sharUs” who
had bait set for the guileless with this
result:
By sending $1 for a cure for drunk
enness. It was to “take the pledge
and keep it.”
He sent 50 cents to find out how to
raise turnips successfully. He found
out: “Just take hold of the tops and
lift.’'
He sent stamps to a Chicago firm
for information as to how to make an
impression. The answer was; “Sit
down on a pan of dough.”
He learned “How to double your
money in six months,” being advised
to convert his money into bills and
fold them.”
He sent for “twelve useful household
articles” and got a package of needles.
He sent $1 to find out “how to get
rich.” The secret '.vas, “Work hard
and never spend a cent”
He wrote to find out how to write
without pen and ink. He was told to
use a lead pencil.
He paid $1 to learn how to live
without work, and was toid on a pos
tal card: “Fish for easy marks, as
we do.”
