Big Auto Show Initiated To-day Banquet to Twenty Odd Agents at the Southern ManuTaciur- ers* Club Begins an Auto Exhibition Given by The United States Motor Co. The first automobile show ever to be held in Charlotte was initiated this afternoon by the United ^lotor Char- lotfe Company under the direction of Ham & Ross, by a banquet at the Southern Manufacti’.rers' Club, the banquet being given to the twenty-odd agents of the comi)any in the Caroli- na.s. The baniiuetcrs assembled at the chii) at 2 o‘ch)ck and short adilresses were made i>y Messrs. W. F. Smith, eastern agent of the I'nitec] .Motor ('ompany and Mr. C. K. Hayme, assis tant supervisor of the eastern district. The banquet wa,s wholl.v informal and was very enjoyable. ••\t 4 o'clock the second part of the pioeram will begin at Ham Ross' place on West Fourth street, where tiemonstration v;ill be given of the op- erancn and mechanism of the Max well and Columbia inotor cars and the .Sampson motor trucks. The machin- er\’ will bo operated by an attached motor and will be uncovered so as to give visitors a chance to observe the machinery in every detail. He was on hh; way home from Asheville where lie had been in a sanatorium. Heart disease is said to be the cause of death. Deceased is well known in Charlotte. He is a son of ]\Ir. and Mrs. R. P. Rutledge. Ueside his parents he is sur vived by his wife and two children, and two sisters, Mrs. W. S. Dudley, of this city, and Mrs. Thos. Wayne, of Savannah. Deceased had many friends here who will hear of his death with sorrow. He was about 25 years of age.
