New Orleans, July 14.—Cotton fu
tures opened stead.v at a decline of 2
to 7 points on poor cables and a good
weather map. The market had little
selling power in the early trading
and acted oversold. Sentiment around
the ring was bearish but bears pre
ferred to take profits at every oppor
tunity rather than to increase their
lines of shorts. Weather reports
were extremely favorable; the map
was wet and cloudy and indicated
rain over practically the entire cotton
belt while the forecast promised rain
for the entire belt. At the end of
the first half hour of business prices
of the active months were 3 to 4
points under yesterday’s close.
Around the middle of the morning
leading bulls were heavy buyers and
at the same time reports of too much
rain in the Mississippi valley, dam
age from boll weevil and complaints
of shedding made their appearance.
Weaker shorts were quickly run to
cover on a rising market and the gti
tire list, except July w'as i)ut 11 to lo
points up from the bottom. July w.\5
inactive. Toward noon the buying
slackened and the market became d ill
with prices showing a tendency to s-sg
off again.
At noon the active months Avere ;;

At the highest of the morning, A igust
and three new crop months wore S
9 points over yesterday's l?.s: quota
' tions.
In the afternoon session the market
I was supported by reports of deterior-
I ation through excessive rains and
' damage by boll weevil in the central
portions of the belt. At 2 o’clock the
active months were 8 to 9 points
over yesrerday’s close.

Chicago, July 14.—With weather fa
vorable in the Northwest, the spring
crop is nearing harvest, sentiment
regarding wheat today was bearish.
Sellers, however, seemed disposed tc
be cautions, figuring that the bulls
could not afTord to let the market
break very far. Heavy receipts hera
counted against values and so to a
m’.ich less degree did optimi&tic ad
vices regarding the yield in foreign
countries. For example the, Canadian
government report issued today
Ehcv/ed a condiiion of spring wheat
12.G.T per cent above last year. Open

tember started at 89 1-8 to S-S, a loss,
of 1-8a 1-4 to 3-8al-2 but rallied to
89 1-2
The strength of the cash situation
had a tendency to hoist corn. Besides
the weather wa& reijorted as warrn-
i^^ up west and southwest. Septem
ber opened S-8 to 5-8 higher at 60
3-4 to 67, touched 66 5-8 and then rose
to 67 1-4.
Oats were not so firm as corn. The
reason lay in the fact that the cov’n-
try wa-3 making heavy sales to arrive.
September satrted a shade off to 1-8

to 47 1-4.

Remarks. |
Local showers occurred in all sec
tions of the cotton belt during the past
24 hours. Heavy rains are reported
from nearly all districts, these being
mostly local. Moderate temperatures
prevail in nearly all parts of the belt.
O. O. ATTO, Observer, i
On these 1,193 shares their ow’ners have psid us in install
ments $99,317.25, so we will return to them their entire payments
to us, with $19,982.75 added. This is a fairly good dividend, don’t
j'ou think? So much for maturing shares.
Our last series, the 57th, was a record-breaker, 4,632 shares
having been actually paid for. W'e are proud of this and are looking
forward to our 58th series, anticipating an equally good or better
record.
Books will open August 1st and subscriptions may be made and
applications for loans filed any time during August. PaymentB
commence the first Saturday in Septem’oer. We want you to come
in with us.
